... The inclusive nature of servant leadership aids in reducing perceived status differences and forging a shared team identity (Randel et al., 2018). This is crucial as the lack of shared TI as a significant factor contributing to social loafing in teams composed of multiple nationalities (Abraham and Trimutiasari, 2015). ...

This study elucidates the multifaceted influences affecting successful project outcomes within Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), with an emphasis on Servant Leadership (SL). The primary objective was to probe the impact of SL on project success. The empirical evidence robustly attests to a positive association between SL practices and the success of projects within NGOs. These practices encompass empowering and supporting team members, cultivating a sense of ownership, and promoting personal and professional development, which collectively contribute to an environment that bolsters devotion, motivation, and active participation. Additionally, SL fosters effective communication, knowledge sharing, and collaborative problem-solving. Interestingly, the study revealed that Team Identity (TI) could have a nuanced effect on the relationship between SL and project success. In cases where team members exhibit strong cohesion and shared objectives, the positive influence of SL might be diminished, highlighting the complex interplay between TI and SL. Furthermore, the study emphasizes the criticality of ingraining SL principles into an NGO’s organizational fabric and values. Recommendations include incorporating SL criteria in leadership selection processes and providing continuous training to nurture SL competencies. The study offers invaluable insights for NGOs aiming to optimize project outcomes through the judicious application of SL and understanding of team dynamics.
... As these collective work environments are so widespread and indispensable, the factors that motivate or ineffect the individuals within this collectivism need to be identified. Because, in order for a group doing collective work to reach its target, all team members must contribute effectively and efficiently (Abraham andTrimutiasari, 2015: 1501). However, the most difficult part of a team work is the inability to measure the individual's share of the overall contribution of the team. ...

Social loafing behavior refers to the situation in organizations where organizations collectively produce products or services, hiding from the duties and responsibilities of employees and hiding within the group. Social loafing behavior exhibited by employees may have negative consequences for organizations. The phenomenon of work alienation is also a negative situation experienced by employees due to many different reasons. As in social loafing behavior, work alienation behavior can have negative consequences for organizations. In this study, the relationship between work alienation and social loafing behaviors of the employees of an institutional enterprise in Ankara was investigated. In the study, the sub-dimensions of the variables as a result of factor analysis emerged. The relationship between the variables and the sub-dimensions of the variables formed as a result of the analysis were investigated. The data were collected by using survey method. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS 21 package program. First of all, descriptive statistics, frequency and normality were obtained and correlation and regression analyzes were performed. Then, t-Test and One-Way Variance (ANOVA) were performed. As a result of the analysis, it was found that there was a positive and significant relationship between work alienation and social loafing behavior. As a result of the regression analysis, it was found that work alienation had a positive and significant effect on the social loafing. In addition, it was found that there was no significant difference in terms of social loafing in terms of age, working time and gender arising from the demographic characteristics of the participants.

We report the results of a game-theoretic experiment with human players who solve problems of increasing complexity by cooperating in groups of increasing size. Our experimental environment is set up to make it complicated for players to use rational calculation for making the cooperative decisions. This environment is directly translated into a computer simulation, from which we extract the collaboration strategy that leads to the maximal attainable score. Based on this, we measure the error that players make when estimating the benefits of collaboration, and find that humans massively underestimate these benefits when facing easy problems or working alone or in small groups. In contrast, when confronting hard problems or collaborating in large groups, humans accurately judge the best level of collaboration and easily achieve the maximal score. Our findings are independent on groups’ composition and players’ personal traits. We interpret them as varying degrees of usefulness of social heuristics, which seems to depend on the size of the involved group and the complexity of the situation.

Until today, there is still controversy whether emotional Internet infidelity or cheating is something that can be tolerated. Existing views are diverse, influenced by geographical factors, cultural and ideological backgrounds, as well as biological theory. This present study initially suggested that the higher the relationship flourishing, the higher the tolerance for the infidelity. In an era where monogamous relationships are dynamized by the multiplication of relationship modes through online social networks, this study becomes increasingly urgent, i.e. to recommend a variable capable of providing a buffering effect to the deleterious effect of the infidelity. The study used correlational design. As much as 210 participants (55 males, 155 females, Mage=37.89 years old, SDage=10.870 years) were recruited in the Greater Area of Jakarta, Indonesia to fill out the Relationship Flourishing Scale and Internet Infidelity Tolerance-Emotional Infidelity Subscale. This study found that relationship flourishing and emotional Internet infidelity are negatively correlated (Spearman’s Rho=-0.172, p<0.05) and there is a moderating role of sex (coeff.=0.3481, p<0.05). That is, those with higher relationship flourishing would have a higher intolerance, especially among men. Such intolerance could lead to marital dissatisfaction and, at worst, divorce. The results of this study have implications for (1) an evaluation of psychometric dimensions of the Relationship Flourishing Scale, (2) the need of proposing moderating variables to be integrated into the correlational model between relationship flourishing and the infidelity, as well as (3) online applications development in detecting and managing the Internet infidelity.

Human social instinct often leads to better solutions than rational thinking, for the individual and the community. Can we measure the real usefulness of individual instinctive decisions within a group of humans that are collaboratively solving a problem? We designed an on-line game in which players solve problems of increasing complexity by cooperating in groups of increasing size. By choosing a cooperative game without the usual opposition between individual and common benefit, we recreate an experimental environment which forces the players to rely primarily on their instinct (intuition) when making cooperative decisions. This environment is directly translated into a computer simulation, from which we extract the collaboration strategy that leads to the maximal attainable score for any group size or problem complexity. Based on this we measure the error that players make when instinctively estimating the benefits of collaboration and find that humans massively underestimate these benefits when facing easy problems or working alone or in small groups. In contrast, when confronting hard problems or collaborating in large groups, humans accurately judge the best level of collaboration and easily achieve the maximal score. These findings are independent on groups' composition and players' personal traits.

Successful implementation of Information Technology can be judged or predicted from the user acceptance. Technology acceptance model (TAM) is a model that is built to analyze and understand the factors that influence the acceptance of the use of technologies based on the user's perspective. In other words, TAM offers a powerful explanation related to acceptance of the technology and its behavior. TAM model has been applied widely to evaluate various information systems or information technology (IS/IT), but it is the lack of research related to the evaluation of the TAM model itself. This study aims to determine whether the model used TAM is still relevant today considering rapid development of information & communication technology (ICT). In other words, this study would like to test whether the TAM measurement indicators are valid and can represent each dimension of the model. The method used is quantitative method with factor analysis approach. The results showed that all indicators valid and can represent each dimension of TAM, those are perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use and behavioral intention to use. Thus the TAM model is still relevant used to measure the user acceptance of technology. © 2017 Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science. All rights reserved.

As one of the biggest technology breakthroughs, Internet of Things (IoT) has been gaining attentions from industries. Especially in the healthcare sector, IoT health devices have a great impact on individual's health-regulation. Through many beneficial features from tracking sleep patterns to calories intake measure, individuals will gain a better understanding of their body to keep them healthy. However, benefits do not immediately equal users' acceptance. In this study, we seek to find variables that we propose could predict user's intention to use IoT health device and integrate them into a theoretical model. We analyzed user's technology acceptance from the perspective of Technology Acceptance Model, using Perceived Usefulness as the main predictor for Behavioral Intention. We also integrate Personality Traits and Facilitated Appropriation as factors to determine Perceived Usefulness, and finally using Cultural Value Orientations at the individual level, we seek to determine the antecedents of Facilitated Appropriation. The research design was predictive correlational with path analysis statistical technique. Participants of this study were 186 college students (75 males, 111 females; mean = 20.86 years old, standard deviation = 2.01 years) across Greater Jakarta. The results showed that Perceived Usefulness can predict Behavioral Intention to use the device. However, Personality Traits are found to be irrelevant in predicting Perceived Usefulness. Only Facilitated Appropriation predicts Perceived Usefulness. Among cultural values proposed, only the Long-term Orientation predicts user's tendency to engage in Facilitated Appropriation. Also, we did not find any correlation between age and Behavioral Intention, Perceived Usefulness, and Facilitated Appropriation. Copyright © 2016 Institute of Advanced Engineering and Science.
