System-level design has long been the province of board designers, but levels of integration have increased to the point that chip designers must concern themselves about system-level design issues. Because chip design is a less forgiving design medium---design cycles are longer and mistakes are harder to correct---system-on-chip designers need a m...

During recent years, reversible logic received important attention in cryptography, optical processing, quantum computing, and nanotechnology. Among the reversible computation units, the adder unit is considered the most fundamental computation unit to build a quantum computing system. Due to its low latency, the reversible carry-lookahead adder is...

... A video conference system for instance is dependent on several domains, such as the checksum calculation used for network processing, and the encoding and decoding of multimedia streams which introduce several different domains as stated in [6]. These different types of data processing along with the experience that domain-specific tools are efficient at what they do leads to the conclusion that a development model or toolset to combine various domainspecific models is of great use. ...

As the complexity of embedded systems con- tinues to grow, the eort put down in a de- sign keeps increasing. In order to address this, the necessity of higher-level specification and modeling languages emerges. This ar- ticle surveys a few state-of-the-art languages used today. The conclusion is that there are many well-functioning domain-specific lan- guages but the multi-domain approaches avail- able today are still not mature enough for most uses.
