The objective of this article is to analyze the information provided by the rubric for evaluating a thesis for a Civil Engineering degree. To achieve this, 41 thesis reports from the 2018-2022 academic years in the Civil Engineering program at Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja (Ecuador) were selected. Surprisingly, the evaluation criteria in the rubric revealed bias from the thesis committee and the student's sex. The study showed limitations in the evaluation criteria of the rubric, suggesting the need for restructuring or the creation of a new evaluation tool. Administrative processes must be modified to align with the principles of the rubric. The methodology used in this study can serve as a reference for evaluating rubrics in similar fields of study. This study highlights the presence of biases in commonly used thesis evaluation tools and the need for addressing them.

El proceso de titulación es una preocupación en las universidades que ofertan Ingeniería Civil, ya que es el último escalón para graduarse. El objetivo de este artículo es mostrar el proceso de reforma continua del diseño de titulación en ingeniería civil en una universidad ecuatoriana. Se presentaron 4 etapas, cada una es una mejora de la anterior. Se encuestaron a estudiantes, tutores y directores de tesis de la etapa 4. Los resultados muestran la efectividad de la reforma continua y la necesidad deevaluarlo continuamente. Este trabajo, es el primero en Latinoamérica y servirácomo referencia para otras universidades.
