ABSTRACT The Cisarua area is located in the northern part of Bandung City and is one of the sub-districts in West Bandung Regency and has steep topography in several locations, giving rise to the potential for landslides. The eastern region is part of the Lembang Fault which is still active in the North Bandung area. The potential for landslides related to the geological structure in this area can be identified by looking at the lineament patterns of the valleys, the presence of lithological offsets and others. The geological structure that developed in the Cisarua area was identified based on the results of analysis of satellite imagery data and the National Digital Elevation Model (DEMNAS) to identify the presence of geological structures and determine the
... Tectonic structures and lithological units are geological constraining factors that are considered important for mapping hazards from landslides (Yulianto et al. 2019). These factors are essential as evidence for the systematic development of risk maps for landslide hazard analysis. ...
... Globally, tectonic lineaments influence terrain stability and may appropriately influence numerous catastrophic landslide disasters (Ilinca et al. 2016). Numerous faults and brecciated shear zones identified on satellite data generally represent zones of weakness along which landslide occurrences are eminent (Yulianto et al. 2019). According to Roberts (2008), landslide occurrences are effectively controlled by any of the following; an extreme degree of structural continuity, a strong association with zones preweakened by thrust folding or existing bedding surfaces pre-weakened by fold-related slip. ...

Structural displacement of the earth’s crust is one of many strategies for addressing landslide issues. The current study assessed the structural and lithological control and estimated the likelihood of future landslides along the case study area of Taiping to Ipoh section of the Highway network in Malaysia. Frequency ratio analysis, fry analysis, distance correlation analysis, simple multi-attribute rating technique (SMART) multi-criteria decision analysis, and radial fractal analysis methods were employed for evaluating structural patterns for landslides hazards and estimating the number of expected landslides in the area. A visual assessment of fry points generated from landslide occurrences suggests a predominant affiliation to the NW–SE tectonic trend. The SMART multi-criteria model reveals that 23.1% of the study location is a high-risk zone. Validation of the predictive model using the receiver operating curve and area under curve (ROC/AUC) analysis suggests an accuracy level of 77.8%. Conclusively, the lithological assessment revealed that granite and allied rock lithological units are more susceptible to landslide occurrences across the study area. A spatial estimation of landslide occurrences shows the possibility of an additional 78 landslides within the Taiping to Ipoh Segment of the highway. Therefore, given the results of this research, the appropriate mitigations can be taken to ensure safety.

Disaster management action should be built up through developing metacognitive and action skills. The metacognitive strategy includes aspects of knowledge about when and how to use it by type, specific technique, and response that are assumed related to deal with disasters. Therefore, this study was aimed to assess the metacognitive abilities of millennials who are affected by disasters and its relation to disaster management. This study used an observatory exploration and inventory (EOI) method involving 248 respondents in flood-prone areas in the city of Semarang. Data were obtained using a questionnaire-based Guttman model electronic survey as many as 52 statements to inventory metacognition abilities and 48 statements related to actions in flood disaster management. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s linear and regression analysis. The non-parametric analysis: Kruskal-Wallis test was run to distinguish metacognitive scores in dealing with food-related problems among millennials groups. For metacognitive awareness, the cognition knowledge was higher than controlling knowledge (p < 0.05). The highest score of metacognitive variables was debugging strategy, which represents a corrective attitude. As described in the value of conditional knowledge, the ability to think fast shows that the millennials are quickly responding and understanding how to act. Most of the respondent actively involved in mitigation and rehabilitation as a volunteer in youth-events such us mangrove planting and cleaning plastic-trash in coastal areas. But, lack involvement of millennial in arranging flood-disaster management make less youth’s responsibility during the disaster. It should be overcome to create a comprehensive approach to community-based disaster resilience.

Springs in Semarang City, concentrated in Gunungpati District, are threatened by urbanization and massive development. It needs to be conserved through comprehensive strategies based on existing conditions. Therefore, this study aims to describe the distribution and biophysical conditions of the springs for water source conservation and sustainability. The study was conducted by identifying and mapping the biophysics condition and vegetation of 114 springs in Gunungpati District, Semarang City. The majority of the springs have low discharge volumes below 1 L/s, which is caused by ecosystem destruction around spring areas. Then, five springs were chosen for sampling, which have fairly good physics-chemical conditions and however polluted with E. coli and coliform bacteria from domestic and agricultural waste. Involving community-based conservation action through revegetating, building up water reservoir infrastructure, providing information boards, and enforcing spring protection culture can increase spring areas preservation. Furthermore, economic, social, and cultural studies on spring protection should be conducted to determine the protection zone priority, analyze the appropriate support system, and threaten potential in water sources sustainability.
Conference Paper
Tembalang and Banyumanik are two sub-districts in the Semarang City that morphologically have fairly steep hill so they have considerable potential to experience landslides. In addition to fairly steep morphology, some of these areas are traversed by regional geological structures. This study is to investigate the relationship between landslides and the developing geological structures in the study areas. The research methods include the interpretation of the presence of landslides from satellite imagery, interpretation of the existence of structures from the Digital Elevation Model (DEM) map, making a map of landslide susceptibility, and geological mapping to determine the distribution of landslide locations that occur in the study area. The results of the interpretation of landslides through satellite imagery, the interpretation of the structural alignment of the DEM map, and the map of landslide susceptibility, are compared with the distribution of landslides from the field during geological mapping. Mapping results show that there are 6 out of 11 landslides associated with geological structures. The distribution of landslides in the study area is more often found in locations associated with regional geological structures than that the other locations. This shows that the geological structure has an influence on the occurrence of landslide. For this reason, in terms of the development of an area, it is important to conduct an analysis of the geological structure’s occurrence as well as to consider other factors that can cause landslides.
