Bluetooth provides communication between devices via radio frequency with a range of around 10 meters. The Bluetooth specification includes a set of adopted and fundamental protocols. Baseband is a fundamental protocol that is responsible for the connection establishment among a master and up to seven slave devices. This paper describes a model of the Baseband connection establishment protocol and presents the analysis approach and results. The protocol is modeled using Colored Petri Nets. The model provides a clear, unambiguous and precise definition of the considered features of the baseband protocol, which is missing in the current protocol specification. The model is analyzed for a set of general properties, such as correct termination, and a set of Baseband protocol's specific properties defined in this paper. Some of the properties are checked by querying the occurrence graph, and the others are verified using a CTL-like temporal logic. The results show that the Baseband model satisfies the defined properties.

Wireless communication is well established in industrial automation (IA). The rising number of different wireless technologies is the result of various IA application requirements. While WLAN and Bluetooth based systems fulfill the requirements of factory automation, WirelessHART and the upcoming ISA SP100a are more suitable for usage in process automation. However, the mentioned systems with different media access mechanisms share the same 2.4 GHz ISM band. Obviously, the growing integration of wireless automation components leads to an extended use of this limited frequency band. Thus, coexistence of wireless solutions is an important issue. This paper presents a model approach to assess communication behavior of Listen-before-Talk systems during interferences by networks with other media access mechanisms. The assessment parameters consider the requirements and conditions of IA applications. The model approach is based on high level Petri Nets. The investigations are focused on systems defined in the upcoming EN 300328 specification and not on existing wireless solutions.

Bluetooth provides communication between devices via radio frequency in an area of around 10 meters. The Bluetooth specification includes a set of, adopted and fundamental, protocols hierarchically structured. Bluetooth 3.0 is a new version of the technology which is intended to increase the maximum transmission rate provided by the previous versions. Thus an Alternative MAC/PHY (AMP) controller is defined. The AMP operation is activated using the Logical Link Control and Adaptation Protocol (L2CAP). So, in this paper, this procedure is modeled using Colored Petri Nets. The model provides a clear, unambiguous, and precise definition of the AMP enabled operation which is missing in the current specification. The CPN modeling and analysis, using state space technique, has revealed that the existing specification is incomplete. Thus, we propose a more complete specification of the AMP enabled operation, which is also modeled and analyzed using CPNs. The results of the analysis of the modified model show that the new procedure satisfies the behavioral properties of the protocol, such as correct termination.

Das Zusammenspield er Komponenten gewährleistet Unterstützung für alle organisatorischen und inhaltsbezogenen Aufgaben, die eine Durchführung des Studiums betreffen.
