... it would be more appropriate to posit that every product innately has both utilitarian and hedonic features that together comprise the perceived value of products and that what matters is the ratio between the two (Steenkamp, 1990;Voss, Spangenberg and Grohmann, 2003). This paper uses the terms utilitarian value and hedonic value to refer to these product features ( Figure 2). Sensory responses to product form Researchers have striven to empirically explore the interaction between products and consumers through their senses. ...

A sailing yacht is a human-centred product, the design of which revolves primarily around the wants and desires of the future owner. In most cases, these preferences are not measurable, such as a personal aesthetic feeling, or a need for comfort, speed, safety etc. The aims of this paper are to demonstrate that these preferences can be classified a...

... The focus of the typical product development process involving innovation management has been observed to be more inclined toward the functional values of the product, which indicates that it concerns more with the practical benefits that product's performance can offer to the customers [4]. This particular assertion has also been supported by other researchers such as Ulrich and Eppinger [5], Pandey et al., [6], and Candi and Saemundsson [7], highlighted that design of engineering products is more concerned with objective functional characteristics and utility of the offerings instead of subjective characteristics such as ergonomics, look and also feel that have been more prominently considered in industrial design [7]. ...

One of the primary issues with many product design and development processes today is to have a good balance between the elements of form and function. While all products must be able to perform their intended functions, considerations of aesthetic features are also necessary for them to be accepted as a good quality design. However, most available design and development processes of engineering products have been more focused on achieving the functional aspects and tend to treat the aesthetic aspects as less crucial features. This approach has led to many failed functional products in the market as their physical design lacks appealing factors to the targeted customers. To improve the situation, a new product design and development framework is proposed in this study to better facilitate designers or engineers in creating an all-rounded quality product design. This new method is developed based on the findings from a conducted survey among engineering students, who are future product design engineers, to identify and resolve issues with current methods that they use for their design tasks. All in all, the new proposed method is essentially tailored to offer a comprehensive guide for developing beautiful and useful products based on a semantics design approach.
... Today's environment thrives on knowledge-driven innovation, employee creativity and a desire to learn, research and develop new ideas and processes continually. Innovation is a process that requires the creation of new products, services, new technological processes, new organizations or improvements to existing products or services, and improvements to existing technological and organizational processes [16][17][18]. ...

... Horsman (2018) indicated that ecological environment integrated art education provided a dynamic method to enhance the power and correlation of environmental education, as an alternative to enhance students' ecological literacy and learning attitudes. Goto, Shigemoto, & Ishida (2019) revealed that "ecological literacy and attitudes" should be connected to broad topics, e.g. art, to gradually deliver to students. ...

Natural ecology is the basis of social development. The destruction of natural ecological environment would limit the development of society. Environmental issues have become the commonly concerned problems internationally and globally. Promoting the public knowledge and awareness of environmental problems as well as understanding of the correlations among living environment, resources, and humans through education would absolutely be urgent for educators. Campus environment is the best place for students’ ecological education and learning; therefore, a campus with good ecological environment would to-some-degree assist in the overall campus ecology. To maintain the overall balance between campus ecological environment and biological conservation, build natural landscape, and create aquatic and terrestrial habitats, traditional ecological environment engineering should be regulated to suit the sustainable development of ecological campus environment with biological conservation and ecological restoration environment. With college students in Guangxi as the research objects, total 288 students from two classes each in universities, as the experimental research objects, are preceded the 16-week (3 hours per week for total 48 hours) experimental teaching research. The research results conclude that 1.campus ecological environment integrated art education would affect learning motivation, 2.campus ecological environment integrated art education would affect learning effectiveness, 3.learning motivation presents significantly positive effects on learning effect in learning effectiveness, and 4.learning motivation shows remarkably positive effects on learning gain in learning effectiveness. According to the results to propose suggestions, it is expected to establish students’ identification and the successive belongingness through environmental integrated art education to assist students in overcoming the personality development stage for the positive psychological development.

The objective of this research is to look into the factors that contribute to the growth of the MLM industry in Indonesia, such as Digital Adoption Capability and Perceived Product Advantage. Furthermore, this researcher employs environmental turbulence moderating variables in order to confirm the positive moderating effect on long-term MLM business growth. This study employs a quantitative descriptive-explanatory approach and data were collected through the distribution of online questionnaires to 319 population of MLM companies and only 182 respondents were eligible for further analysis. Previous research found the positive direct and indirect effect of network externalities and digital adoption on business performance in the communication and technology industry, product advantages are also widely studied in other different industries. Research on related factors in the MLM industry is still rarely done. The results of this study reveal that the role of network externalities is critical to drive long-term business growth and to be a mediating construct for perceived product advantage and digital adoption capability. At the same time, this study shows that the characteristics of network externalities have a positive influence on long-term business growth and there is no moderating effect of environmental turbulence.

This study examines changes in the importance of product attributes on consumer satisfaction in the smartphone market. Based on a literature review, hypotheses are formulated regarding the relationship between the importance of aspects of consumer assessment and market maturity. We especially consider the diverse dimensions of product design and attempt to identify the dynamically changing effects in product design. This study’s empirical analysis focuses on consumer reviews of smartphones over a 10-year period, and the final dataset contains 18,463 reviews for 332 brands of 32 manufacturers. We estimate the relationship employing a hierarchical Bayes model; consequently, we find that the importance of appearance aspects declines, while that of technology aspects increases with market maturity. Based on these findings, we propose the application of practical market strategies.
