A new species, Strobilomyces pteroreticulosporus, is described based on two recent collections from the Republic of Korea. This new taxon is well characterized by morphological characters, and proved using rpb1 and ITS2 sequences. The variability of size and basidiospore ornamentation of the common species S. confusus is also discussed.

En este trabajo se presenta un listado taxonómico de los hongos de la familia Boletaceae del estado de Jalisco, México, basado en las recientes propuestas de clasificación. Para la elaboración del listado se consideraron las especies previamente citadas en la literatura, así mismo, se examinaron morfológicamente especímenes correspondientes a esta familia depositados en los herbarios IBUG e ITCV. En esta entidad se reconocen un total de 68 taxones adscritos a siete subfamilias, 30 géneros con 59 especies, dos variedades y siete especies afines. Se citan como registros nuevos para la micobiota de Jalisco a Boletellus flocculosipes, Boletus pseudopeckii, B. rubriceps, B. speciosus, Buchwaldoboletus lignicola, Chalciporus rubinellus, Hemileccinum subglabripes, Hortiboletus campestris y Tylopilus obscurus.

Some species in Strobilomyces Berk also share some characters with Cacaoporus, including dark brown basidiomata, white to off-white basal mycelium that turns red when bruised and the context turning red when cut. We introduce a new genus, Cacaoporus, characterised by chocolate brown to dark brown basidiomata and hymenophore, tubes not separable from the pileus context, white to off-white basal mycelium, reddening when bruised, amygdaliform to ovoid spores and dark brown spore deposit. Phylogenetic analyses of a four-gene dataset (atp6, tef1, rpb2 and cox3) with a wide selection of Boletaceae showed that the new genus is monophyletic and sister to the genera Cupreoboletus and Cyanoboletus in the Pul-veroboletus group. Two new species in the genus, C. pallidicarneus and C. tenebrosus are described from northern Thailand. Full descriptions and illustrations of the new genus and species are presented. The phylogeny also confirmed the reciprocal monophyly of Neoboletus and Sutorius, which further support the separation of these two genera.

Basidiomata of Strobilomyces longistipitatus, a species so far known only from India, were collected in mixed coniferous forests in Pakistan. The species was identified using ITS and LSU sequences data as well as morphological features. Detailed morphological descriptions and illustrations are provided along with results of molecular phylogenetic analyses. This species is regarded as a new record for Pakistan, and the present report extends the known distribution and morphological variations of the species.

A new species of Afroboletus, namely A. sequestratus, is described from Zambia. Evidence from molecular phylogenetic analyses using sequences rpb1, rpb2 and tef1α and morphological comparison support its placement in Afroboletus and it is distinct from the other related members of this genus in Africa. It is the first species with sequestrate basidiomata in the genus. A morphological description is augmented with line drawings and SEM images for the species.

This is a continuity of a series of taxonomic and phylogenetic papers on the fungi where materials were collected from many countries, examined and described. In addition to extensive morphological descriptions and appropriate asexual and sexual connections, DNA sequence data are also analysed from concatenated datasets to infer phylogenetic relationships and substantiate systematic positions of taxa within appropriate ranks. Wherever new species or combinations are proposed, we apply an integrative approach using morphological and molecular data as well as ecological features wherever applicable. Notes on 112 fungal taxa are compiled in this paper including Biatriosporaceae and Roussoellaceae, Didysimulans gen. nov., 81 new species, 18 new host records and new country records, five reference specimens, two new combinations, and three sexual and asexual morph reports. Strobilomyces, one of the most noticeable genera of Boletaceae (Boletales), is both ecologically and economically important. Although many studies have focused on Strobilomyces in China, the diversity still remains incompletely understood. In the present study, several collections of Strobilomyces from Hainan Island, tropical China were studied based on morphology and molecular phylogenetic analyses. Four species are described as new, viz. S. baozhengii, S. conicus, S. hainanensis, and S. pachycystidiatus. Detailed descriptions, color photos of fresh basidiomata, and line drawings of microstructures of the four species are presented.

Strobilomyces is broadly distributed geographically and serves an important ecological function. However, it has been difficult to delimit species within the genus, primarily due to developmental variations and phenotypic plasticity. To elucidate phylogenetic relationships among species within the genus and to understand its species diversity, especially in Asia, materials of the genus collected from five continents (Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North/Central America) were investigated. The phylogeny of Strobilomyces was reconstructed based on nucleotide sequences of four genes coding for: the largest and the second largest subunits of the RNA polymerase II ( RPB 1 and RPB 2); the translation elongation factor subunit 1-α ( TEF 1); and the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit 3 ( COX 3). The combined results based on molecular phylogenetics, morphological characters, host tree associations, and geographical distribution patterns support a new classification consisting of two sections, sect. Strobilomyces and sect. Echinati . Using the genealogical concordance phylogenetic species recognition (GCPSR) approach, at least 33 phylogenetic species in Asia can be delimited, all of which are supported by morphological features, and five phylogenetic species remain to be described. The mountainous region of Southwest China is especially special, containing at least 21 species and likely represents a centre of diversification. We further compared our specimens with the type specimens of 25 species of Strobilomyces . Our comparisons suggest that, there are a total of 31 distinct species, while S. sanmingensis , S. verruculosus , S. subnigricans , and S. zangii / S. areolatus , are synonyms of S. mirandus , S. giganteus , S. alpinus and S. seminudus , respectively. Eight new species, namely, S. albidus , S. anthracinus , S. calidus , S. cingulatus , S. densisquamosus , S. douformis , S. microreticulatus and S. pinophilus , are described. A dichotomous key to the Asian Strobilomyces species is provided.

The Basidiomycota constitutes a major phylum of the kingdom Fungi and is second in species numbers to the Ascomycota. The present work provides an overview of all validly published, currently used basidiomycete genera to date in a single document. An outline of all genera of Basidiomycota is provided, which includes 1928 currently used genera names, with 1263 synonyms, which are distributed in 241 families, 68 orders, 18 classes and four subphyla. We provide brief notes for each accepted genus including information on classification, number of accepted species, type species, life mode, habitat, distribution, and sequence information. Furthermore, three phylogenetic analyses with combined LSU, SSU, 5.8s, rpb1, rpb2, and ef1 datasets for the subphyla Agaricomycotina, Pucciniomycotina and Ustilaginomycotina are conducted, respectively. Divergence time estimates are provided to the family level with 632 species from 62 orders, 168 families and 605 genera. Our study indicates that the divergence times of the subphyla in Basidiomycota are 406–430 Mya, classes are 211–383 Mya, and orders are 99–323 Mya, which are largely consistent with previous studies. In this study, all phylogenetically supported families were dated, with the families of Agaricomycotina diverging from 27–178 Mya, Pucciniomycotina from 85–222 Mya, and Ustilaginomycotina from 79–177 Mya. Divergence times as additional criterion in ranking provide additional evidence to resolve taxonomic problems in the Basidiomycota taxonomic system, and also provide a better understanding of their phylogeny and evolution.
