... study was carried out for two areas with different terrain characteristics and landuse: Lojing in the state of Kelantan and Hulu Langat in Selangor (Figure 1). The study area in Lojing is about 200 km 2 and bounded by longitude 101.36 -101.56°E and latitude 4.64 -4.73° N ( Figure 2). ...

... networks derived from SR TM data are overlain on the drainage of the topographic maps (Figures 9 and 10). Due to the relatively large pixel size, the derived drainage networks appeared simplified or have low sinuosity. ...

Digital Elevation Model (DEM) presents the digital representation of surface topography. DEMs can be derived from satellite remote sensing or conventional techniques of surveying. However, inherent errors in a remote sensing based DEMs can lead to uncertainty in the elevation data and computed topographic attributes. This study evaluates accuracy o...

Based on the Chinese Geomorphologic Database at 1 : 1 000 000 scales, the distribution of the typical loess geomorphologic types (such as the loess tableland, loess ridge and loess knoll) is acquired in the Loess Plateau of China. Then, based on the SRTM (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission) digital elevation model (DEM) data and topographic analysis...

Advanced Space borne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER GDEM), Shuttle Radar Topography Mission (SRTM), and GTOPO30 are forms of open source DEMs that are freely available for nearly the entire globe. The accuracy of these DEMs becomes very pertinent as they are fast becoming substitute for large field studies, hence, the need for as...

The geology of the Jelebu area, Negeri Sembilan is strongly influenced by 2 main faults passing through the area, which are the NW-SE trending Bukit Tinggi fault zone and Kuala Lumpur fault zone. The study area include Telemung area in Pahang and also Ulu Semenyih in Selangor. It is mainly made up of Late Triassic granitic rock and Lower Palaeozoic Jelebu schist. The granite consists of four main units which are the Telemong granite, Semenyih granite, Beroga granite and Genting Sempah Microgranite. A geomorphology map of the study area was done using the ArcGIS software where 3 general classes have been identified: mountains, hills and flat plains. The area is generally surrounded by mountains. Flat plains can be found at the middle at mostly of the low elevation where the 2 faults intersect. Several parameters such as slope gradient, surface roughness, slope aspects and elevation been analyzed and their maps are produced to see the relationship with the main faults. The base data used in producing the thematic maps are from the Shuttle Radar Topography Mission SRTM (30m) of the study area. There are 15 drainage basins identified and 5 of them have been selected for further analysis. Kenaboi basin, Kongkoi basin and Lui basin drain along the main faults zone, whereas Semai basin and Batangsi basin are not draining along the main faults. At the fault zone area, the slope gradient and slope roughness are low while the slope aspect are rather continuous in one aspect. Based on the river profile of the 5 selected basin, there are several knick points can be identified related to the fault zone. There is also high erosion activity happened to the watershed related to the fault zone and the most prominent is at the Kenaboi basin. In terms of the neotectonics geomorphological features, triangular facets can be identified along the SE end of Bukit Tinggi fault zone. From all these observations and analysis done, we can say that the geological structure especially faults does affect the geomorphology of an area.
