This paper concerns finding solutions of statically determined plane truss not built from triangles. The first solution is obtained replacing two truss bars from the structure by another two ones and solving the new truss "by hand". The second solution is obtained using the package MathCAD.

This paper aims to improve the eccentric drive of vibratory equipment using a controllable crank mechanism. Unlike the existent vibration exciters widely used in industry, the proposed design of the crank mechanism allows smooth variation of the excitation frequency and the amplitude.

The paper develops a matrix approach for the theoretical study of the kinematics of a relative body motion. The body is assumed as arbitrary, asymmetrical, and homogeneous. New additional kinematics characteristics of the body are introduced: vectors-real generalized transmissive, relative, and absolute velocities and accelerations. Two new theorems are defined: theorem for summation of rigid body generalized velocities and theorem for summation of rigid body generalized accelerations. The obtained matrix equations are directly related to the using of mathematical computer packages.

This paper treats a matrix approach for the theoretical study of the dynamics of relative motion. The body is assumed as arbitrary, asymmetrical, and homogeneous. Based on the developed kinematics and the obtained new theorems, which describe the relative general motion of this body, an additional step is made. New additional dynamic characteristics and new dynamic theorems are defined. The determined differential equations of relative general rigid body motion are especially suitable for programming with the MatLab mathematical package. They could find an application in celestial and satellite mechanics.

The small three-dimensional vibrations of two rigid bodies connected with elastic elements are studied in this research. The main task in the paper is to show how the system of differential equations is formed, which describes these vibrations without considering the damping. For determining of the stiffness matrix, the Finite Element Method (FEM) is used. The obtained results could be applied in solving a number of engineering tasks related to the study of free and forced three-dimensional vibrations by force, inertial and kinematical excitations.

ABSTRACT. Small vibrations of a cylindrical shaft caused by inertial excitation are studied in this paper. The shaft is vertically situated. It consists of two sections with different cross sections. It is supported by a spherical and a cylindrical joint. The two supporting devices have horizontal elasticity. Between the two supports, and also at the upper end of the shaft, rotational movable concentric masses, which are eccentrically situated towards the shaft axis, are mounted. They rotate with a constant angular velocity relative to the rotary axis and they create unfavorable inertial excitation. Due to the elasticity of the shaft, as well as to the elastic horizontal supports, small forced vibrations of the two concentric masses are created in planes perpendicular to the rotary axis. The shaft is modeled as a discrete mechanical system with four degrees of freedom. Differential equations, describing the small vibrations of the system, are derived. A program of MatLab and Simulink has been compiled and used to integrate numerically derived equations. Calculations have been made for the different unfavorable positions of the concentrated masses relative to a plane perpendicular to the shaft rotary axis. All results are illustrated with appropriate graphs. Some important for the practice conclusions are presented, which can be used in the design of such shafts.
