The economic impact of COVID-19 is undeniable, and one of the sectors most affected by this situation was tourism; when departures were canceled and what is known as “The Great Lockdown” began, the activity of this sector was paralyzed. In this regard, knowing which strategic actions must be implemented in order to recover economically is vital. This study aims to identify the importance of the strategic actions of travel agencies in Boyacá following the COVID-19 crisis using aggregation operators and fuzzy techniques. The methodology uses the experton method, Bonferroni’s OWAAC method, maximum similarity sub-relationships and Pichat’s algorithm, and the relative incidence analysis method to determine the importance of the actions taken. The findings show that most managers’ implemented strategic actions, including highlighting financial capacity and marketing (improvement actions and establishing alliances), which were the strategic actions with the highest incidence. These actions identify a focus for activities to reactivate the business and are related to the company’s routine operations.

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the tourism sector, including Doplang tourist village, which was recognized as an attractive tourist destination in Semarang Regency. The pandemic situation presented significant challenges that resulted in demotivation among the community in developing the tourism potential of this area. In the context of institutional innovation, this community empowerment aims to address the demotivation of Doplang tourist village's community caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which disrupted the development of tourism potential. One crucial step in achieving this goal is to implement changes and improvements in the structure and mechanisms of organizations involved in managing the tourism destination in the village. Through institutional innovation, it is expected that more effective collaboration and synergy will be created among all parties involved. These changes aim to enhance active participation from the community in decision-making related to tourism development. Consequently, the community will play a more active role in managing their own tourist destination and collectively identifying the potential of local tourism that can be developed. The outcomes of this program also include efforts to raise awareness within the community about developing local tourism potential and creatively promoting the village through social media. Through effective collaboration among various stakeholders, it is hoped that Doplang tourist village will recover from the impact of the pandemic, increase tourist visits, stimulate the local economy, and strengthen the village's image as a competitive, sustainable, and unique tourism destination.

... The WHO estimates that about 4.2 million people die from ambient air pollution yearly. They further project that air pollution is also associated with 26% of deaths caused by respiratory disorders, 25% of deaths from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and 17% of deaths from heart attacks and strokes (Isaifan 2020;Khan et al. 2021). The findings from the keyword analysis in Figs. 7, 8, and 9 show that much of the current research has focused on the impacts of COVID-19 lockdowns on air quality, highlighting how pollution and emission levels reduced during those lockdowns periods and how the identified pollutants have significant impacts on air quality and public health. ...

Social lockdowns improved air quality during the COVID-19 pandemic. Governments had previously spent a lot of money addressing air pollution without success. This bibliometric study measured the influence of COVID-19 social lockdowns on air pollution, identified emerging issues, and discussed future perspectives. The researchers examined the contributions of countries, authors, and most productive journals to COVID-19 and air pollution research from January 1, 2020, to September 12, 2022, from the Web of Sciences Core Collection (WoS). The results showed that (a) publications on the COVID-19 pandemic and air pollution were 504 (research articles) with 7495 citations, (b) China ranked first in the number of publications (n = 151; 29.96% of the global output) and was the main country in international cooperation network, followed by India (n = 101; 20.04% of the total articles) and the USA (n = 41; 8.13% of the global output). Air pollution plagues China, India, and the USA, calling for many studies. After a high spike in 2020, research published in 2021 declined in 2022. The author’s keywords have focused on “COVID-19,” “air pollution,” “lockdown,” and “PM25.” These keywords suggest that research in this area is focused on understanding the health impacts of air pollution, developing policies to address air pollution, and improving air quality monitoring. The COVID-19 social lockdown served as a specified procedure to reduce air pollution in these countries. However, this paper provides practical recommendations for future research and a model for environmental and health scientists to examine the likely impact of COVID-19 social lockdowns on urban air pollution.

... Regarding the post-Covid times, the main topics for the so-called "new normal" have been: the health and sanitary measures to reduce outbreak risk, the fiscal measures to support the tourism business (Kuo, 2021;Villacé-Molinero et al., 2021), the need to increase resilience in global value chains (Deb and Ahmed, 2022;Tasnim et al., 2022), and employees' engagement and satisfaction (Shehawy and Abouzied, 2022). Moreover, they focus on growth or business-as-usual strategies, as indicated by Sigala (2020), leaving the environmental issues aside or in the periphery (Hall et al., 2020;Khan et al., 2021;Mkono et al., 2022). As an example of this peripheral consideration, Vu et al. (2022) mentioned the possibility of developing post-covid tourism toward green growth as one strategy out of eight to attract tourists more interested in low-carbon destinations after Covid-19. ...

Tourism is very vulnerable to climate change and the disruption of Covid-19, facing two challenges: fighting climate change pursuing its carbon emissions goals, and recovering from the complex pandemic effects. We contribute to the incomplete understanding of tourism emissions pandemic impact and in different post-covid recovery scenarios. Using official data on tourists' consumption, we calculate the carbon footprint of tourism in Spain in 2019 and 2020 under different recovery pathways, including changes in consumption patterns and emissions efficiency, using a multiregional input-output model. Results show that the carbon footprint of tourism in Spain fell by 63% in 2020 compared to pre-pandemic levels, which would be aligned with the current sectoral decarbonisation target. However, the new tourists' consumption patterns resulting from the pandemic are insufficient to increase tourism sustainability if they imply pre-pandemic consumption levels. The results provide empirical ground for the binary debate on "recovery or reform".
... The impact of the pandemic on the tourism sector generated speculations about postpandemic recovery (Shirvani Dastgerdi et al., 2021). These speculations, generally of a negative nature, increased, considering that tourist flows such as social mobility were responsible for many contagions (Khan et al., 2021). In general, European countries accepted tourism within their borders, which is also a cause of the impact of the pandemic in Italy (Shirvani Dastgerdi et al., 2021). ...
... According to Ritchie and Jiang (2019), response and recovery stage among the three main stages of the crisis and disaster management life cycle (Faulkner, 2001;Ritchie, 2004) is the area researchers focus on when studying epidemiological, clinical, and laboratory research, several methods and techniques have been adopted to undertake social science research to address the pandemic, especially COVID-19. Bibliometric analysis has recently gained immense popularity in business research (Khan et al., 2021). Moreover, the appeal of bibliometric analysis in business research is not a passing trend but rather a reflection of its usefulness for managing massive amounts of scientific data and delivering high research impact (Donthu et al., 2021). ...

The impact of COVID-19 on tourism was massive, especially in 2020 and 2021. This incident sparked heated debates about its impact on the tourism industry and resulted in the publication of a large number of research articles instantly. Due to the needs of the hour, tourism scholars and journals have taken a proactive step to communicate scholarly research in a faster phase to mitigate the issue through scientific research. This surge of articles during the pandemic period allows us to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the nexus between the global pandemic and scholarly engagement. Employing a mixed approach using a systematic literature review of journals published on the Web of Science, this article explores a comprehensive approach of methodological applications, the timely transition of themes in different intensities worldwide, and geographical coverage of the research and themes discussed. Our analysis reveals that the pattern of themes discussed varies by time and that themes are mainly discussed around tourist psychology, crisis management, pandemic impact, tourism transformation, and the digital revolution. This study also found a rise in increased interdisciplinary research to address issues related to tourism.

In businesses, top management typically discusses increasing employee performance by focusing on job characteristics (JC) and work engagement (WE). Typically, employees' job characteristics are classified based on the Job Demand Resource Theory (JDR) or the Job Characteristics Theory (JCT). In fact, work engagement is concerned with an employee's enthusiasm and dedication to their job. This systematic literature review intends to examine research articles on job characteristics and work engagement (WE) from 2017 to 2021 that were retrieved from publicly available databases. Furthermore, this study critically reviews the most significant theories and employs Bibliometric analysis and Microsoft Excel to develop research themes. In addition, Bibliometric study included selected literature trends, the most influential words, the most dominant authors, co-occurrence networks, thematic maps, and factorial analyses. PRISMA was utilised for systematic screening. A conceptual model and prospective study directions have been presented to intellectuals and aspiring academics. Hence, this review is a noteworthy addition to the current body of literature. This analysis recommends that businesses and policymakers should explore regulations and tactics to optimise the job characteristics of the workforce. Moreover, managers should recognize that WE enlighten performance and increase the organization's revenue and commitment. Applying these JC and WE concepts would provide firms with a competitive edge that would enable them to sustain and flourish worldwide.
