On the basis of the hypothesis presented in 2005, about insulin, which is considered an important factor in cell differentiation, I consider that people with diabetes mellitus, DM, may have a risk of developing cancer, or undifferentiated growth, having less functional activity of insulin. As this is a differentiating factor deficiency or functional deficit of insulin may involve a smaller brake control of cell cycle progression, which rescues of the cycle allowing differentiation. I will focus on the differentiating insulin regulation rather than regulation of the cell division cycle and mitotic progression, I think it depends on their degree of success compared to cell salvage preventing apoptosis, for its restorative and differentiating activity. Therefore we seek the relationship between DM and cancer, the prevalence in different types of cancers, the possible common factors and receptor signaling cascade of insulin in their relationship with the cell division cycle.
