The major peatlands of Aubrac plateau have been bryofloristicaly investigated. A list of 141 taxa is provided, among which 32 taxa are considered of high conservation value. Emphasis is put on the most remarkable sites from the points of view of richness in overall bryophyte flora and in taxa of high conservation value.

This study was conducted to document bryophyte species in a forest patch of Pres Roxas, Cotabato, Philippines. A modified belt transect method was employed and 3 transect lines were established along the human-established trail. A total of 18 species of mosses and liverworts were identified. These species were classified under 11 families, and 14 genera. Nine (9) species of bryophytes were identified from both transect 1 and 2 while in transect 3, only 5 species thrived. Of the 18 species identified, Thiudium benguetense is found in the 3 transect lines established. Two (2) were identified endemic to the Philippines Ecthropothecium ferrugineum and Thiudium benguetense. Moreover, similarity index showed that 86% are discordant species and each transect line harbors unique species of bryophytes. It is recommended that intervention in the protection and conservation of the remaining flora community of the mountain ecosystem must be employed given that community is dependent on the water coming from it.

Mosses are an impotent component of developing plant communities of glacier forelands of the Russian Altai Mountains. The check-list of mosses of the Maly Aktru glacier foreland includes 44 species that is 8.9% of species diversity of the moss flora of the Russian Altai Mountains. The moss species diversity of the Maly Aktru glacier foreland is significantly higher than that of other deglaciated areas of the Northern hemisphere mountain systems. Twenty-six species of the Maly Aktru glacier foreland check-list were not previously recorded on other deglaciated areas. The β-diversity values between the Maly Aktru glacier foreland and other deglaciated areas are rather high (0.123–0.276).

Plagiothecium nemorale sensu lato is described as a variable Eurasian taxon. Recent studies indicate that this variability is reflected in both qualitative and quantitative features of its gametophyte and its genetic variation. This taxon comprises at least two separate species: P. nemorale (Mitt.) A. Jaeger and P. longisetum Lindb. The present paper examines whether the gametophyte variability of these species is reflected in the micromorphological variation of the sporophyte. The analysis revealed that the seta of P. nemorale is shorter than that of P. longisetum. In addition, regarding the exostome teeth, the lower portion of the outer surface is characterised by loosely-arranged, moniliform cristae in P. nemorale, with conical papillae on the upper side; however, in P. longisetum it possesses tightly arranged, epapillose cristae, with clearly flattened papillae on the upper side. In addition, the inner surface is more gently papillose in P. nemorale than in the latter. These findings not only describe hitherto unknown features of the sporophyte of these species, but also justify the resurrection of P. longisetus as separate from P. nemorale.

The Hypnaceae is one of the largest and diversified family among the pleurocarpous mosses which consists of nearly 60 genera and 1,000 species around the world. In Pakistan, it is represented by 15 species and 8 genera. The current research article provides the detail morphological investigation of four different species (genera) of the family Hypnaceae that is, Gollania clarescens, Hypnum revolutum, Homomallium andoi, and Taxiphyllum taxirameum in the Western Himalayas, Pakistan. The research article reports the first SEM study of the leaf surfaces of the studied taxa, along with comprehensive morphological characters of the four species. The main objective of the research project is to present the comparative light and scanning electron microscopic study to discuss the morphology in detail because previously the family is just reported in different bryophyte checklists of the Western Himalayas. Based on results, morphological characters, micromorphological observations, qualitative and quantitative attributes, taxonomic keys for the studied taxa, distribution, and habitat are described. Stereoscope was used to analyze different qualitative characters, and light microscope was used to observe and measure the laminal and alar cells of the leaf. The SEM study reveals many important surface features like cell shape and cell wall. The laminal cells were mostly linear and elongated with thin cell walls. The specimens used for the SEM were air dried, so the laminal cells were somewhat constricted and concaved. The current study project will help to make the contribution in the taxonomy and morphology of this family.

Molecular phylogenetic reconstructions support the monophyly of Pylaisiaceae. The family includes Calliergonella Loeske, Homomallium (Schimp.) Loeske, Pseudohygrohypnum Kanda, Pylaisia Schimp., 2 further genera formerly placed in Hypnaceae, Ectropothecium Mitt. and Vesicularia (Müll.Hal.) Müll.Hal., as well as several species of Hypnum Hedw. recently considered to belong to Stereodon (Brid.) Rchb. Calliergonella, Ectropothecium, Pylaisia, Pseudohygrohypnum and Vesicularia, are monophyletic based on the present data, whereas Homomallium is resolved as a paraphyletic sister group to Pylaisia. Stereodon is excluded from Pylaisiaceae since its type species, S. callichrous (Brid.) Lindb., is resolved outside the Pylaisiaceae clade. Based on morphological and molecular evidence 2 new genera, Roaldia and Buckia, are described to accommodate the former Hypnum (Stereodon) species H. revolutum (Mitt.) Lindb. and H. vaucheri Lesq. respectively. The genus Pseudostereodon (Broth.) M.Fleisch. is re-established to accommodate Hypnum procerrimum Molendo. Morphological descriptions and illustrations of distinctive characters in these 3 taxa are provided and lectotypes for 2 names are designated. New distributional data is also provided for Roaldia new to Guatemala. A key to the genera of Pylaisiaceae is presented.

Paper presents couple of new national and regional bryophyte records accross the world, including Europe, Asia, Africa, Central and South America, Antarctica. In Europe there are interesting findings from Poland (Sphagnum molle, Pseudocalliergon lycopodioides), Hungary (Seligeria acutifolia), Bulgaria and Macedonia (Didymodon icmadophilus), etc. A number of Orthotrichum spp. are reported for Spain, Greece, Turkey, Georgia.
