5: Plan and section of a settling basin 2. A net head of less than 10 m should have a settling basin sized to settle particles 0.3-0.5 mm in diameter. For a 10-100 m net head, 90% of particles 0.3 mm or greater should settle in the basin. For heads in excess of 100 m, 90% of particles up to 0.2 mm should settle.
