... El Hedhli et al. (2013) introduced the concept of SWB at the mall, defined as "the mall's contribution to shoppers" quality of life. However, the key drivers of SWB are not well-understood, with only a few studies addressing its precursors (Ali et al., 2021;El Hedhli et al., 2013, 2020. The call for malls to enhance the post-shopping experience and the growing research interest in understanding shopping's impact on SWB set the stage for exploring a related concept. ...
... According to El Hedhli et al. (2013, p. 857), SWB refers to a "shopper's perceived impact of a shopping mall in contributing to satisfaction in important life domains (such as consumer life, social life, leisure life, and community life) resulting in a global judgement that the mall contributes significantly to one's overall quality of life". SWB considers the effect of shopping experiences and shopping life subdomains on the shoppers' quality of life (El Hedhli et al., 2020). El Hedhli et al. (2013) opined that SWB is a multi-dimensional concept that involves (1) shoppers' lifeenhance the feeling of well-being by providing the products' assortment and services; (2) social lifesatisfies the shoppers' social needs through interaction with family and friends; (3) leisure lifeoffers a venue for shoppers' relaxation and entertainment and (4) community lifeprovides a platform for shoppers to interact with community members. ...
... Mall functionality is the overall performance of a shopping mall in terms of product assortment, quality, fashion, large trade area and store variety to satisfy the shoppers' needs (El-Adly and Eid, 2015;El Hedhli et al., 2013). In particular, mall functionality extends beyond brand outlets and considers shoppers' opinions on customer service, mall convenience, safety, parking, entertainment and so forth (El Hedhli et al., 2020). High FNR in a mall may enhance the shoppers' confidence, aiding quick decisions and boosting the feelings of connectedness, increasing SWB (Ali et al., 2021;El Hedhli et al., 2013). ...

Purpose-The purpose of this study is to test the relationship between mall relevance dimensions [(functional relevance (FNR), symbolic relevance (SYR), social relevance (SOR) and environmental relevance (ENR)] and shoppers' well-being (SWB), which in turn influences mall loyalty (ML). In addition, this study aims to investigate the moderating effect of social media celebrities (SMCs) on the association between SWB and ML. Design/methodology/approach-A mall intercept survey was used to collect responses from mall shoppers. The authors received 426 valid responses from mall shoppers in Pakistan's three metropolitan cities (i.e. Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad). To test the hypotheses, partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used. Findings-Findings reveal that FNR, SYR, ENR and SOR significantly and positively influence SWB. Similarly, SWB significantly affects ML. Moreover, SMCs moderate the positive relationship between SWB and ML. Originality/value-This study is one of the pioneer studies examining mall relevance dimensions on SWB. In addition, this study contributes to the retailing literature by testing the moderation effect of SMCs on the relationship between SWB and ML. Likewise, this study provides insights for mall administration to focus on mall relevance in terms of FNR, SYR, ENR and SOR to enhance the current and prospects' SWB. Next, SMCs play a key role in enhancing SWB and ML.

The entire impression that a customer receives when making a purchase at a brick and motor store is in-store shopping experience. Research on the in-store customer buying experience is both extensive and important. It entails examining the different elements that affect a customer's perception and behaviour when making purchases in a physical retail store. A descriptive study on in-store retail shopping experience is done in a supermarket in Chennai region through questionnaire method with questions on variables-merchandise variety, internal shop environment and in-store emotions, interaction with staff, presence of and interaction with other customers, satisfaction and repatronage intentions. The analysis is done through percentage method and the results are presented. Companies may enhance the entire customer experience and raise customer satisfaction by understanding in-store shopping experience.

The development of sharia products continues to increase globally, both in Muslim-majority and minority areas. Diverse cultural backgrounds influence consumers in making choices. Furthermore, there are differences of opinion in previous studies regarding demographic variables. Using functional attitude theory, the gap in consumer motivation from demographic factors in choosing sharia products. The novelty of this study is to emerge from three demographic factors: gender, age, and education level, as fully predicted control variables. Based on this explanation, this study aims to determine the effect of the relationship between the control variables on the utilitarian motivation model in sharia products. Quantitative research was employed on the primary data collected, using the analysis method of multiple group analysis structural equation modelling (SEM) on 362 respondents. The study revealed that control variables (gender, age, educational background) influenced sharia products. The scope of the research is limited, making the results of this study not maximized. In future research, it is expected to be able to expand the scope, use other control variables, and use other related subjects or objects. Keywords: demographic factor, utilitarian motivation, sharia product, intention to use, ideal self-concept
... To compare the alternative model with the focal model on the suitability to exclude education as a moderator, as depicted in Table 7, the study finds that the focal model is better than the alternative model given the values of AIC and BIC. The values of AIC and BIC of the focal model are higher than that of the alternative model as supported by previous studies [97,98]. In addition, as suggested by [83] that the EN score should be higher than 0.50, the focal model has an EN score higher than the EN value of the alternative model. ...

In recent years, smart home technologies have offered opportunities for elderly people to manage their daily health-related activities. Despite the advancement in smart home technology (SHT), the level of end-user acceptance among elderly people is still low. This study proposes an SHT framework by examining the determinants of elderly behavioural intention (BI) to use smart home technologies by extending the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model. This study uses the quantitative approach to survey about 486 elderly people in Saudi Arabia, and it applies the Partial Least Square Structural Equation Model (PLS-SEM) technique to perform the data analysis. Findings reveal that culture influence and technology awareness are significant factors in determining the BI to use SHT among elderly people. The study also finds that attitude mediates the relationships between performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and behavioural intention. We find that region and education moderate the relationships between culture influence, technology awareness, and behavioural intention. This study theoretically extends the UTAUT theory by including external constructs: culture influence, technology awareness, attitude, education, and region.
... Although individuals buy products mainly based on functional congruity, they engage in shopping to self-express and enhance their wellbeing based on self-congruity (Ekici et al., 2018;El Hedhli et al., 2021). Beyond the utilitarian dimension, the shopping experience is associated to recreation and entertainment (Guiry et al., 2006;Picot--Coupey et al., 2021). ...

In this paper we investigate the verbal expression of shopping experience obtained by a sample of customers asked to freely verbalize how they felt when entering a store. Using novel tools of Text Mining and Social Network Analysis, we analyzed the interviews to understand the connection between the emotions aroused during the shopping experience, satisfaction and the way participants link these concepts to self-satisfaction and self-identity. The results show a prominent role of emotions in the discourse about the shopping experience before purchasing and an inward-looking connection to the self. Our results also suggest that modern retail environment should enhance the hedonic shopping experience in terms of fun, fantasy, moods, and emotions.

t The conceptualization of self-congruity is more than five decades old. However, the research on its effect on consumer behaviour is still evolving, ensuing the literature developed being fragmented and dispersed. This concern state-of-art summarization of the literature to consolidate knowledge on self-congruity. The purpose of this review article is to structure the self-congruity literature on understanding consumer behaviour developed over five decades in terms of significant theories, contexts, frameworks, and methodologies. This review also aims to provide an integrative research model and outline future research directions. To this end, Scientific procedure and rationales for systematic literature reviews (SPAR-4-SLR) protocol with the lens of the Theory, Context, Characteristics, Methods (TCCM) framework was adopted for review procedure. The review was conducted with a corpus containing 339 research articles on exploring self-congruity facets and its effect on consumer behaviour published between 1973 and 2022. The findings are reported using TCCM convention adopting inductive approach. Further, based on the review findings, an integrative model of self-congruity is put forth summarizing the research frameworks and constructs adopted as antecedents, modifiers, and implications in investigating self-congruity effect on consumer behaviour. This review paper concludes recommending future research agendas with the intention of expanding self-congruity research in emerging contexts applying cutting-edge methodology.
