Ascotremella faginea is reported for the first time from Japan and is also the first record of the genus from Japan. The specimen was collected in October on a fallen branch of an unidentified broad-leaved deciduous tree in a beech forest of Tottori Prefecture, western Japan. A brief description of the Japanese specimen is given along with illustrations including a color photograph of the fruiting-body, a SEM photograph of ascospores, and line drawings of salient microstructures.

Zíbarová L., Kout J. (2017): Xylariaceous pyrenomycetes from Bohemia: species of Biscogniauxia and Hypoxylon new to the Czech Republic, and notes on other rare species. – Czech Mycol. 69(1): 77–108. Two species of pyrenomycetes, Biscogniauxia mediterranea and Hypoxylon fuscoides, are reported from the Czech Republic for the first time. Descriptions of both species, based on the authors' collections, are provided together with notes on their distribution and ecology in the Czech Republic and Europe. Additionally new records and short discussions regarding 20 other less common taxa of pyrenomycetes of the genera Biscogniauxia, Euepixylon, Hypoxylon and Nemania (traditionally placed in Xylariaceae) in Bohemia, Czech Republic, are supplied, and recommendations for a future version of the Czech Red list of macromycetes are given.

Species Panellus ringens and P. violaceofulvus are similar in some respects and different in others. They look alike macroscopically, especially in having pleurotoid habit and violet-brown and/or red-brown colours of basidiomata, but differ microscopically, distinctly in size of spores. For each species, description and illustration of macroscopic and microscopic characters are provided based on the Slovak collections. Some misiden-tifications are mentioned and crucial morphological characters stressed. Compared and commented are also the characters used for differentiation of both species in the selected literature. The added distributional and ecological data concern the area of Slovakia and Europe. Panellus ringens is proposed to be included in a new version of the Red list of fungi of Slovakia.

Scattered woody vegetation in the agricultural landscape includes more or less fragments of original biotopes and cultivated cultural vegetation as are groves, windbreaks, and infiltration forest belts on slopes, tree alleys, as well as orchards and vineyards. The contribution describes their effectiveness in agriculture sustainability through defined categories of functions and services. At the studied territory, the development of landscape structure was assessed in three time periods of 1869, 1949 and 2010s with regard to the share of scattered vegetation and woody species composition. In 2010, 23 vegetation formations were surveyed, from these 20 are in linear formations and the others in areal formations. Regarding species composition, 47 woody plant species were identified, from these 28 native, 12 alien and 7 fruit trees. The share of scattered vegetation has been proposed to be increased from 5% to 6%. The studied scattered vegetation should be considered as an important contribution to biodiversity conservation, climate, water and soil quality amelioration, pest and disease control and finally crop yield increasing.

During 2001–2011, we determined several new, rare or little known slime molds and fungi in varied localities in Central Slovakia. As the first reports in Slovakia, we present here the slime molds Craterium leucocephalum var. scyphoides, Dictydium cancellatum, zygomycetous fungus Entomophthora muscae, ascomycetous species Agyrium rufum, Tympanis sp., Viridispora alata and basidiomycetous species Femsjonia peziziformis. Our unique finding of the fungus Viridispora alata is the first finding of this genus and species in the European context (except findings in Madeira). Rare and little known in Slovakia are the ascomycetous species Hypoxylon ticinense, Hypomyces rosellus and Eutypella sorbi. Rare ectomycorrhizal species Bankera violascens, Hydnellum floriforme, H. geogenium and H. peckii are Basidiomycetes with a considerable bioindication value, associated with Norway spruce. The species Cenangium ferruginosum is an important pathogene on pine trees.

The long-term research of mycoflora was realised in the Kohút massif Mt. (1409 asl.) in the Stolické vrchy Mts on the 8 basic selected localities during occasional excursions in 1996–2010. The aim of our work was the summarisation of the existing data and data, obtained by ourselves, about the mycoflora of the Kohút massif Mt. and to describe the mycological conditions (partially also phytocoenological ones) in the mountain ridge complex of Stolica-Kohút Mts. In total 503 species of macromycetes have been determined (see Appendix). In this paper we point at the significant character of the Kohút massif Mt. from the view of high macromycetes biodiversity. Amount of rare and endangered macromycetes taxa, amount of rare hypogeous ones as well as several first-findings of macromycetes for Slovakia have been recorded (e.g. the first-finding of taxa Endogone lactiflua, Encoelia fascicularis, Geopora tenuis, Gymnomyces xanthosporus, Hydnotrya bailii, Podophacidium xanthomelum, Scutellinia torrentis, Smardaea amethystina, Tectella operculata and others). The finding of Ascobolus xylophilus represents the third finding for Europe and the forth one for all the world. Number of macromycetes which are included into or nominated for the Red list of endangered macromycetes of Slovakia or Europe (e.g. Boletopsis leucomelaena, Entoloma byssisedum, Gautieria morchelliformis, Gyromitra fastigiata, Hydnobolites cerebriformis, Chlorencoelia versiformis, Lactarius spinosulus, Otidea propinquata, Peziza lividula, Scutellinia minutella and others) have been recorded too. A great diversity of rather infrequent and rare macromycetes has been observed mainly in the inversion valleys in surroundings of Muránska Zdychava settlement. This fact can be one of the arguments for proposal of higher degree of territorial protection for the valley territory near Muránska Zdychava settlement.

Rhodotus has been regarded as a monotypic genus, consisting of only one species, R. palmatus, for a long time. Morphological and phylogenetic studies were carried out on collections of Rhodotus from temperate, subtropical and tropical China. Our phylogenetic analysis of DNA sequences of three loci (the internal transcribed spacer, the large subunit nuclear ribosomal RNA, and the translation elongation factor-1 alpha) revealed that there are two phylogenetic species in the northern hemisphere, which is in concordance with morphological traits, supporting the division of Rhodotus into two distinct species. Rhodotus asperior is described as a new species that differs phenotypically from R. palmatus in its broadly ellipsoid to subglobose, more roughened basidiospores, longer cheilocystidia with slightly thickened wall, and its occurrence in tropical and subtropical environments. The discovery of this new taxon indicates Rhodotus has a wider distribution than previously thought.
