In this paper, we consider delay-optimal power and subcarrier allocation design for OFDMA systems with K mobiles and one base station. There are K queues at the base station for the downlink traffic to the K mobiles with heterogeneous packet arrivals and delay requirements. We shall model the problem as a K-dimensional infinite horizon average rewa...

... show that under some mild conditions, the proposed algorithm converges to the optimal solution almost surely. We also obtain a reduced complexity decomposed solution with linear O(KN F ) complexity and memory requirement. In this section, we shall elaborate the system model, the OFDMA physical layer model as well as the underlying queueing model. Fig. 1 illustrates the system model. There are K user queues at the base station which buffer packets for the K mobile users (with different source arrival rates and delay requirements) in the OFDMA system. The base station has a cross-layer scheduler which takes the CSI and joint QSI as the inputs and produce a power allocation and ...

The adaptive traffic signal control (ATSC) problem can be modeled as a multiagent cooperative game among urban intersections, where intersections cooperate to counter the city's traffic conditions. Recently, reinforcement learning (RL) has achieved marked successes in managing sequential decision making problems, which motivates us to apply RL in t...

A Markov based unified model for an energy harvesting node in a body sensor network is presented. Using the presented model, the probability of event loss due to energy run out is calculated. The results provide insight into the performance of energy harvesting nodes in a body sensor network as well as design requirements for such devices.

A Markov based unified model for energy harvesting nodes in wireless sensor networks is proposed. Using the presented model, the probability of event loss due to energy run out as well as an analytical vulnerability metric, namely average time to energy run-out, are derived. The results provide insight into the performance of energy harvesting node...

This paper deals with problem of the real-time freeway traffic density estimation/prediction for a jump Markov linear model based on Daganzo's cell transmission variant of the Lighthill-Whitham-Richards continuous macroscopic freeway model. To solve the problem we propose a particle-filtering-based estimation/prediction method. Its performance is i...

H1N1 has contributed to a significant number of fatalities in Malaysia. This study investigated the behaviour response and attitude of educated young adults towards their health. This study was conducted in the suburban territory. Hypothesis testing was completed using Chi-square and Fisher Exact test for categorical data to compare the differences in proportion. This study concluded that health seeking behaviour and behaviour changes among educated young adults in Malaysia should be improved. There was no strong predictor to indicate that difference in education background will grant positive difference in health seeking behaviour and behaviour changes with regard to H1N1 pandemic.
