Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the world's population has undergone different changes in which an impact on the use of the internet stands out from daily aspects such as education, commerce, health, among others; which has made us highly dependent on its usage. In this regard, the term Internet of Things (IoT) has been increasingly recognized for its contribution to improving people's life quality, through objects that are integrated and connected to the Internet. This document aims to introduce alternatives for IoT-based home automation making use of NodeMCU, Sinric Pro, and smart voice assistants such as Google Home and Alexa. The proposals are efficient in terms of easy implementation and reduce electricity consumption by around 30%. This document is research that helps families improve their energy efficiency and daily productivity through IoT.

The evolution of the technology 5G has influenced the Internet of the Things (IoT) according to the wireless communications of minor latency, and major speed compared to the existing technologies. Consequently, from the 21st century, 5G will act as the spinal column of the IoT and will level the way for the design and deployment of a Smart City, nevertheless, this progress has a negative point which is demonstrated in the energy consumption. The target of this investigation is to announce methods to reduce the consumption of energy in one Smart City based on the IoT and the technology 5G. The results obtained in this investigation allow determining that 5G and the IoT will have a major energy consumption with about 80 % of the entire potency, due to the transmission and reception of a big quantity of information in a Smart City. Likewise, this research, contributes to the knowledge, presenting a review of methods that allow minimizing energy consumption and projects that improve energy efficiency.

Increasing load demand and energy crisis issues are becoming more and more concerned. Nowadays, the demand for electricity in household life is rising sharply and the structure of electricity consumption is gradually becoming complex. With the development of the Internet of Things technology, it provides a better platform for the improvement of the energy management system. The home energy management system (HEMS) based on the Internet of Things comes into being, which can integrate the management of all home power loads and distributed energy, realize the optimal configuration of energy, and help users save electricity. This paper firstly describes the basic concept of IoT smart home energy management system, then describes the framework of HEMS, and finally reviews the current research status in this field from three modules, namely, data collection module, communication module, and management and optimization module, and discusses its technical challenges and future research directions.KeywordsSmart homeInternet of ThingsHome energy management system
