... number of studies on the mycota of Turkey ( Fig. 1) have been published. Contemporary knowledge on the diversity of Turkish myxomycetes and macrofungi is based on a period of more than 90 years of investigations. In the course of gathering literature sources, we found more than 400 scientific works, which contain various Turkish records of myxomycetes and macrofungi. During the 1990s ...

With the increasing number of world population, the protein need increases. The protein content of mushrooms is very high. Therefore, studies on edible mushroom species are important. In this study, a new record edible fungus species (Macrolepiota fuliginosa) was reported for Turkey. Short descriptions and distinct morphological characters of the first reported species were given with its photographs.
... Among the seven species of Armillaria spread in Europe, six species are wood decay fungi with wide distribution and of great ecological and economical importance (Kile et al., 1991;Guillaumin et al., 1993;Lushaj, 2008). In the Balkan countries, seven species have been reported from Albania (Lushaj, 2008), six species from Slovenia and the Czech Republic (Munda, 1997;Jankovský, 2003), and five from Greece and Serbia (Tsopelas, 1999;Lushaj et al., 2010 (Sesli and Denchev, 2014, Sesli et al., 2020, Solak and Türkoğlu, 2022. A. mellea has been recorded on deciduous species such as Quercus, Fagus, Castanea, Carpinus, Populus, Salix, Corylus, and Juglans and coniferous species such as Pinus, Abies, and Cedrus in Türkiye (Selik, 1973;Sümer, 1977;Doğan and Öztürk, 2006;Türkekul, 2008). ...

The occurrence of Armillaria mellea (Vahl) P. Kumm. and the ecological characteristics of this fungus were studied in Kocaeli, Yuvacik dam basin mixed-broad leaved forests. During the surveys, we analyzed the sporocarps (fruiting bodies) of A. mellea growing up on woody plants in plots selected by cluster sampling in the Yuvacik dam watershed dominated by broad-leaved forests. The Runs test results showed that randomness rules complied in the selection of the plots, and there was no tendency (p= 0.109 > 0.05, z= -1.603). The presence/absence of A. mellea and environmental variables were tested with Chi-square analysis, and the temperature differed among these environmental variables. To the dendrogram, A. mellea was mainly seen in the south of the study area and preferred western aspects. It is understood that this macrofungus prefers the south of the study area because of the altitude. Our data showed that sporocarps of A. mellea generally occurred in the western aspect, at temperatures of 15–20°C, >80% humidity and 800–1000 m altitude. Our logistic regression analysis model (z=-9.508+0.307×temperature+0.081×humidity) showed that if the temperature and humidity change by 1 unit in the region, sporocarp formation is affected by 36% and 8.4%, respectively.

Thirteen new records which are; Lactarius chelidonium Peck., L. cyanopus, L. salmoneus Peck., L. pseudodeliciosus Beardslee & Burl., L. fennoscandicus Verbeken & Vesterh., L. thyinos A.H. Sm. that generally have orange, yellowish-orange or natural orange coloured latex and changing to green or blue or vinaceous when dry; L. barrowsii Hesler & A.H. Sm., L. subpurpureus Peck., and L. rubrilacteus Hesler & A.H. Sm. that have brown, reddish-brown or vinaceous coloured latex; L. badiosanguineus Kühner & Romagn., L. hygrophoroides Berk. &M.A. Curtis., L. subumbonatus Lindgr., and L. serifluus (DC: Fr.) Fr. that have white and watery white latex. According to literature data, a total of eight species have been recorded in the region. Now, number species increased to 37 due to newly seen literature species and additional records in this study. Description of newly recorded Lactarius taxa are given with the knowledge of their habitats, macroscopic and microscopic features were given for each record species in the study.

This paper was carried out on two secotioid macrofungi taxa within the order Agarigales. One of them, Chlorophyllum lusitanicum G. Moreno, Muñ.-Moh., Manjón, Carlavilla & Altés is reported as new record for Turkish and Asian mycobiota. A new locality was given for the second one, Chlorophyllum agaricoides (Czern.) Vellinga, which is also a rare taxon in Turkey. Chlorophyllum lusitanicum was described briefly, and the localities, voucher numbers are provided together with macro and micro photographs of fruit bodies and basidiospores of both taxa. A synoptic key for Turkish Chlorophyllum was also prepared.

The use of synthetic-based packaging materials can causes health and environmental problems. To overcome these problems, researchers have focused on natural polymers such as cellulose and chitosan, which are easily degradable in nature. Herein, biodegradable composite films were prepared for the first time by including Pisolithus arhizus spores (PS) known as earth-ball like fungus into the chitosan matrix. The obtained films were characterized by FTIR, TGA, XRD and SEM. Additionally, thickness, soil degradation, water solubility and antioxidant activity tests were done to learn more about the films. Also, the cytotoxicity effect of obtained films against L929 fibroblast cells was studied. A gradual increase was recorded in the thermal stability and antioxidant activity of chitosan/PS composite films. It was observed that the addition of PS significantly increased water solubility compared to the control film (90%). In addition, the reduction of the biodegradation time of the composite films obtained has been confirmed to depend on the PS content. All films had no cytotoxic effects on L929 cells at 24 h and 72 h (all values > 70%). Considering the successful results in the production of chitosan–PS composite films, it is predicted that such production may be a biological alternative that can replace petroleum-based synthetic polymers.
