Microgrippers are used to manipulate micro-objects in micro-assembly and microsurgery. It is used in micro-robotics and micro-assembly technologies to manipulate and handle micro-objects without causing damage. Microgrippers can be used in material sciences to lift and move microparticles. Micropipettes, optical tweezers, and magnetic tweezers are common tools used by most biologists to sort stem cells, deliver genes and DNA, diagnose cells, and manipulate single cells. For some time, researchers are focusing on compliant microgrippers, attempting to improve their grasping mechanism, avoid slippages, and increase their ability to control and enhance force (mechanical advantage).
