This study aims to research on love attitudes among Malaysian college students by exploring how they view and handle romantic relationships. Utilizing a quantitative approach, the research investigates love attitude with a focus on gender disparities, the relationship between individual romantic experiences and love attitude styles, the influence of these experiences on love attitudes, and the potential impact of parental marital status on students’ love attitude. Drawing upon Social Exchange Theory as a theoretical framework, which emphasizes the analysis of costs and benefits in decision-making processes, the study employs convenient sampling to collect data through Google Forms, garnering 115 valid responses. T-tests, Pearson correlation, and Crosstabs analysis are utilized to dissect the
data. The findings reveal significant gender variations in love attitude, highlighting distinct patterns in how males and females perceive and approach romantic relationships. The study uncovers a positive correlation between the duration
of one’s longest relationship and their love attitudes, shedding light on the role of personal experiences in shaping romantic perceptions. However, correlations with parental marital status did not achieve statistical significance, suggesting a need for further exploration. This study contributes to our understanding of romantic dynamics within this demographic and paves the way for future research endeavors in this area.
Fenomena munculnya pemikiran bunuh diri di Indonesia kian marak terjadi pada usia emerging adult. Dalam hal ini, diketahui jika dukungan orang sekitar dapat berperan dalam meminimalisir munculnya pemikiran tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan sosial (yang terdiri atas dukungan dari keluarga, dukungan dari teman, serta dukungan dari significant other) dengan ide bunuh diri pada emerging adult. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dengan teknik analisis spearman rho dengan kriteria subjek berusia 18-29 tahun. Adapun pengukuran untuk ide bunuh diri dilakukan dengan menggunakan Adult Suicidal Ideation Questionnaire (ASIQ) yang terdiri dari 25 aitem serta pengukuran dukungan sosial dilakukan dengan Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) yang terdiri dari 12 aitem Total partisipan yang berpartisipasi adalah sebanyak 117 individu, 34 individu berjenis kelamin laki-laki serta 83 lainnya berjenis kelamin perempuan. Hasil analisis mengungkapkan apabila terdapat hubungan negatif yang signifikan antara dukungan sosial p = 0,000 (p<0,005, r = -0,413), dukungan dari keluarga p = 0,000 (p<0,005, r= -0,523), serta dukungan dari teman p = 0,001 (p<0,005, r= -0,290) dengan ide bunuh diri pada emerging adult. Sementara itu, tidak didapatkan hasil yang signifikan antara dukungan dari significant other dengan ide bunuh diri pada emerging adult p = 0,256 (p>0,005, r= -0,61).
¿En qué consistiría una filosofía de la universidad? ¿Cómo esbozar el modo en que ésta puede proceder? ¿Qué puede decir hoy la filosofía para quienes trabajan en esta institución? Para responder estas preguntas se propone revisar algunos de los textos en los que el pensador de origen argelino habla de manera directa sobre la universidad: Las pupilas de la Universidad, La Universidad sin condición y Cátedra vacante: censura, maestría y magistralidad. Los tres textos fueron escritos para ser leídos en público como lecciones inaugurales o conferencias. La tesis de este artículo es que una filosofía de la universidad debe asumir que esta institución es el lugar en el que todo debe ser cuestionado y debe reflexionar críticamente sobre las metáforas que se usan para referirse a su razón de ser, su esencia y fundamento. Para desarrollar la idea central el artículo se organiza en cuatro partes: primero, se revisa el modo de proceder y las preocupaciones generales, a partir de la relación que se puede establecer con elementos de dos textos de Martin Heidegger; segundo, se examina las metáforas sobre la visión y la luz; tercero, se reflexionará sobre la destinación y razón de ser de la universidad; por último, se tratará la pregunta ¿quiénes somos nosotros en esta corporación de profesores y alumnos?
