It is widely recognized that Kerala State in Indian union has one of the best tourism resources, even at the global level. The enviable natural beauty of the State coupled with many favorable features like moderate climatic conditions, historical trade linkages other parts of the world, high achievements in educational, healthcare and many allied fields that are comparable with advanced nations are just a few among the State's unique features. However, despite these special advantages and also substantial investments in tourism sector in Kerala, by the Governments both at the State and Central levels, the reality is that there has been a discouraging trend in the performance of Kerala tourism, as is reflected in the slow and mostly negative year or year rates of growth in foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) and foreign exchange earnings (FEEs); making the tourism earnings inconsistent with the huge outlays. In this context, this study suggests the utmost need for ICT-based tools for promotion of tourism which are more eco-friendly and appealing to the new generation customers including foreign tourists. Ensuring the widespread use of social media, like, Social Media Marketing (SMM), Electronic Word of Mouth (eWOM) etc. together with improving the State's ICT infrastructure, extensive use of digital marketing, use of E-Books, ensuring online and real-time transactions at every stage of tourism promotion, etc. are the strategies suggested. Key Words: Foreign Exchange Earnings, ICT, Social Media, Digital Marketing, eWOM.

Regarding the relative shares of the three sectors of Indian economy to the GDP of India, the persisting stagnancy in the share of industrial sector of the economy is a chronic issue, given the fast growing share of services sector as against fast declining share of agricultural sector, thus ultimately resulting in a growing imbalance in the economy. Too fast growth in tertiary (services) sector at the cost of fast declining primary (agriculture) sector causes growing imbalance, as the secondary (industry) sector is stagnant-its main constituent being the manufacturing sub-sector. In view of the vital need for scaling up the percentage share of India's industrial sector in country's GDP, particularly that of manufacturing sub-sector, small scale enterprises (SSEs)in the country play a key role to bring about balanced and equitable national economic growth Today, Indian SSEs are referred to under the broader concept of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs),after the promulgation of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (Development) Act, 2006 (MSMED 2006). MSMEs play a key role in a developing nation like India as they can create huge employment avenues and that too in equitably-in a way that empowers the poor and other marginalized groups of the society, including women. Considering the vital role of MSMEs in the industrial revival and equitable economic growth, this paper focuses on Micro Enterprises (MEs) and their significance in rural development, including development of the tribal population.
