... compare with the literature data we have calculated the magnetic induction (B). In Table 2 we collect the data for some conventional stainless steels, namely grade 1.4105 is ferritic stainless steels; grade 1.4462 is duplex stainless steel with volume percentage of ferrite of 47.2; grade 1.4418 is Ni-martensitic stainless steel; grade 1.4542 is 17-4PH maraging stainless steel. ...

... These steels are often used in the medical, aerospace, and mechanical engineering industries. Recently, more and more studies are found dedicated to microstructures and magnetic properties [4], fatigue life [5] mechanical and corrosion properties [6] of these steels obtained by the SLM method. The use of a post-processing complex can improve the performance of a product made of such steels. ...

Considered are the prospects of applying complex post-processing for an additive manufactured product with the deposition of a multilayer composite coating [Ti 0.2 C 0.8 /a-C] 40 at the final stage. It is shown that heat treatment, finish milling, ion-plasma nitriding and burnishing with a sliding diamond indenter of a PH1 steel part obtained by selective laser melting (SLM) before deposition of a thin-film coating provides the coating with a minimum surface roughness Ra = 82-86 nm and a maximum hardness of 25.2 ± 1.4 GPa with an increase in the microhardness of the entire “coating-substrate” system.

Additive Manufacturing is one of the revolutionizing technologies of modern manufacturing industry. This technology has time and again proved that any material can be fabricated by it if the right parameters are employed. Other technologies such as powder metallurgy are also dominating the manufacturing industries owing to its potential flexibility in manufacturing complex shapes. In this work, an attempt has been made to fabricate cylindrical components through both the techniques, and their properties are compared. A study on metallurgical properties revealed that both provide similar microstructures, but powder metallurgy yielded better mechanical properties. It has been also observed that the tribological properties are better in additive manufactured components. The reason for this behavior has been studied and discussed.

The prerequisite for a complete description of fluid dynamic and acoustic processes is that all properties of the fluid are known. While fluid parameters such as the speed of sound or the shear viscosity are known for many liquids over a wide range of thermodynamic states, only limited measurement data exist for the bulk viscosity. In this thesis, a measurement method for the selective determination of the bulk viscosity of liquids, based on the absorption of ultrasonic waves, is developed and implemented. The focus is on the simulation-driven design of algorithms for processing the measurement signals as well as the analysis and further development of a measurement set-up based on the pulse-echo method. In addition to absorption in the fluid, there are other effects (for example diffraction or incomplete reflection) that weaken or otherwise influence the acoustic signal. Therefore, the development of procedures to separate these effects from acoustic absorption is another focus of this work. The bulk viscosity is determined from the measured acoustic absorption for different fluids in different thermodynamic states. An uncertainty analysis of the measured quantities concludes this thesis.

05.06.2020 г.

The report presents the results of structural studies of engine parts manufactured from 1.4540 (15-5PH) stainless steel powder with 3D laser printer. Three phases such as athermal martensite, residual austenite, and ferrite were detected in the studied 3D samples. The estimated volume fraction of austenite was 34%. The martensitic phase had a cubic (BCC) crystal structure and was formed as the packages with twin lamellae (∼100 nm). The presence of a dendritic structure with different orientations of dendritic branches was detected in the samples cut from the engine part. The obtained results were compared with the literature data for 1.4540 (15-5PH) maraging steels manufactured by conventional methods.

The paper presents the results of a study of the effect of mechanical longitudinal uniaxial stretching on the velocity of longitudinal and transverse waves in XM-12 steel samples. During the research, an acoustic mirror-shadow method was used on multiple reflections of the control using an electromagnetic acoustic transducer and a piezoelectric transducer based on a polyvinylidene fluoride film to excite and receive waves. The elastic modules of the studied samples and the coefficients of acoustoelasticity are calculated.
