The 27th European Cortinarius Conference was organised between 18–24 October 2009 at the College of Nyíregyháza, East Hungary. A total of 391 macrofungi taxa was collected and identified during the five field excursions (Vámosatya, Baktalórántháza, Kállósemjén, Bátorliget, Miskolc (valley Csanyik-völgy)), from which 41 are new to Hungary: Bovista f...

... protected species were found during the conference. The distribution of the taxa collected in the studied localities during the confer- ence is shown in Table 1. Although a favourable amount precipitation, enough for the fruiting of macro- fungi, fell a week before the conference, the previous period of the autumn was too dry; and just before the meeting the weather turned into cold and almost winter-like in the region. ...

In the Hungarian mycological literature only three Hymenochaete s. l. species (Hymenochaete rubiginosa, Pseudochaete corrugata and P. tabacina) have been mentioned so far. In this study four additional Hymenochaete s. str. species are presented: H. carpatica, H. cinnamomea, H. fuliginosa and H. ulmicola. All of them are new to Hungary, in the case of Hymenochaete cinnamomea one old unpublished specimen deposited in BP was discovered and revised. Detailed description, ecology and locality data for each Hungarian Hymenochaete s. str. species are given.

The rare and protected, brown-spored agaric, Pholiota squarrosoides is reported new to Hungary from the Juhdöglő-völgy Forest Reserve in the Vértes Mts. The species was identified according to morphological and molecular data. Traditional infrageneric classification placed P. squarrosoides to the section Adiposae, but our Maximum Likelihood phylogeny based on ITS sequences indicates that the species may belong to the section Pholiota along with e.g., P. squarrosa and P. lundbergii. A key to the Pholiota species known from Hungary is also provided.

Only two Xylobolus species are known from Hungary, i.e. X. frustulatus and X. subpileatus. Both are rare all over Europe. Xylobolus frustulatus were reported in Hungary from a few localities until now. It was found in the Visegrád and the Vértes Mts for the first time. In case of X. subpileatus, only a single record was published ca 70 years ago from rotten wood (without voucher specimen). Its first natural occurrence was discovered in the Vértes Mts (Juhdöglő-völgy Forest Reserve) in 2010. Distribution and ecological requirements of both species are discussed. Suggestions on their conservational and red listed status in Hungary are given.
