Technology is changing the landscape of learning and teaching in American higher education. The use of virtual worlds enables engineering and technology programs to implement software programs such as Second Life, Open Simulator, or Lumiya to enhance what they may currently already have. Additionally, virtual worlds can add a more dynamic environme...

Social Virtual Environments (SVEs) have been in existence for as long as we have communicated with others through the internet. Users of social virtual environments are represented by avatars, virtual representations of the users. As technology has advanced, so have the ways in which users can represent themselves online: from user-names in the beg...

What is the Second Life of social media? at first glance it might seem a more extensive form to say social media 2.0. In reality, when I think of Second Life, I think of that “social network” of which the whole world was talking about 10 years ago and that the world and our lives seemed to be revolutionary. A virtual world where the real nations o...

... This study used a conceptual model development system in formulating expert opinions, as shown in Figure 2. This system is a development of Soft Systems Methodology (SSM; Dalkin et al., 2018;Fadhil et al., 2018;Torres, 2018;Warren et al., 2019) and System Development Life Cycle (SDLC; Dawson et al., 2019;Fadhil et al., 2017;Moore, 2015). The next activity is translating each stage based on the conceptual model development system, including Planning, Analysis, Design, Verification, Validation, and Building concepts. ...

This study designs a halal economic model of tourism within the framework of Islamic sharia enforcement in Aceh to boost economic growth within community. This study used an expert system approach, which collects key data and information in the formulation of model design through interviews, questionnaires, direct observation, and synthesis of data in the field. A conceptual model of the development system included planning, analysis, design, verification, and validation; each was used to analyze the data. The present study suggests that the proposed formulation of the halal tourism model in Aceh must consider three key factors. First, the key principle of the halal tourism model industry is designed based on Islamic principles, the national legal foundations, and the local regulations. Second, the halal tourism industry is expected to address two important issues: halal certification in hospitality and gastronomy services and empowerment in amenity, human resources, and events. Third, it is also hoped that halal tourism management can focus on the object, marketing, industrial, and institutional developments. These three factors must be fully support by government policy and the Islamic finance industry. The present study is expected to provide essential, inclusive, and wide-ranging aspects for developing the halal tourism industry and encouraging community economic growth. This study also provides insights into how an inclusive conceptual framework can boost the halal tourism industry without defying its basic principles.
... The rapid digital transformation required that it was vital to further provide incomparable learning experience through the active learning engagement (Omar, Dawson, & Davis, 2019) among the digital native's generation, which was equipped with media and technology advancement (Ejaz et al., 2019). This is significant to its capability in elevating the teaching and learning process, bridging students' knowledge and learning objectives through students learning engagement, which further increased students' creativity (Gorra & Bhati, 2016;Ejaz et al., 2019). ...

The digital advancement in tertiary education has created challenges in sustaining an effective teaching and learning process. Significantly, it is important that lecturers design good multimedia teaching aid, to sustain effective teaching and learning content communication. This paper provides an empirical evaluation of how Malaysian tertiary institutions lecturers from non-creative design fields, design an effective multimedia teaching aid to meet these challenges. Although studied samples are limited, outcomes of this paper are an extensively significant reference and guidelines for other area and related multimedia platform locally and internationally. Finding from this research has shown that there is a need to readdress the issues towards lecturers understanding in designing their multimedia teaching aid to sustain an effective teaching and learning process. Since the scope of this research was limited, it is also anticipated that future research could investigate how lecturers from other fields of studies such as social sciences and humanities, business and management design the interface of their multimedia teaching aids against the valid principle established by scholars to sustain an effective teaching and learning process.

Technology advancement has reshaped the digital lifestyle among the millennial education environment. The interactive digital multimedia teaching aid is applied extensively, as it can enhance and further sustain effective teaching and learning process. Significantly, lecturers became the interface designers to meet this challenge. Through text usage, typography plays a vital role as it carries the essence of communication effectively on interface design and must be applied effectively through its design principle characteristic. Towards this, there is a need to investigate how lecturers from non-creative design fields use the typography element to design the interface design of a multimedia teaching aid, as they were familiar with the visual design principle knowledge. This paper intends to provide an empirical assessment of how non-creative design field lecturers apply the typography attributes in the text element, which is one of the vital multimedia interface design elements in developing an effective multimedia teaching aid. This research is outlined from the thematic analysis of in-depth interviews among lecturers from Malaysian tertiary institutions. Although the study sample is limited, this study’s outcome could significantly be extended as a guiding reference in other related or other fields of studies and interactive multimedia platforms, domestically and globally.

Noise has become an occupational hazard for workers. Many studies proved that occupational noise-related issues still exist even though thorough inspection, observation, implemented control measures, and medical examinations were carried out. This study focused on the development of a Noise Risk Assessment and Management System based on Industry Code of Practice (ICOP) for Management of Occupational Noise Exposure and Hearing Conservation 2019, Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulation 2019 and Guidelines on Management of Occupational Noise-Related Hearing Disorder 2021. The system was developed by using Microsoft Access. Two industry experts reviewed and validated the ready system to ensure the content was relevant and complied with the relevant legal requirements and their applicability in industries. The selected experts were among the competent noise risk assessor and safety and health manager. The System Usability Scale (SUS) test and System Functionality and Capability Scale Assessment form were used to validate and verify the system. The SUS score indicates 75.5, which is graded as B. It shows that the system can be used in industry with some improvements that should be made. At the end of this research, a successful Noise Risk Assessment and Management System has been developed to be used in industries.
