... This general assessment of existence or a domain of existence represents life satisfaction (LS), often considered a dimension of the quality of life in a given social context or environment (Phillips, 2006). Therefore, its enhancement has become a crucial target for social policies (Carrasco-Campos et al., 2017). The two emotional dimensions of SWB are positive affects (PA), composed of emotions such as joy or enthusiasm, and negative affects (NA), composed of emotions such as anger or sadness (Diener, 1984). ...

There is a wealth of empirical studies linking the life events and transitions to variations in subjective wellbeing. These studies are often cross sectional or, when taking a dynamic approach, they address one life domain at the time. Within LIVES, the relationship between family transitions (like the transition to parenthood, couple separation, lone motherhood) and well-being has been investigated longitudinally and with attention to the spillovers between the family and other life domains. Several projects show the extent to which family events or phases affect individual subjective wellbeing in the short or long term and what are the interdependencies with employment and health trajectories. Results show also gender differences in the way different types of stressors act and are reacted to. For instance, men and women have different strategies and mobilize different resources and reserves drawing on various life domains (economic, social, cognitive) to deal with stressors related to critical events and transitions. In this chapter, we review and discuss the results of such projects (becoming a parent study, lone motherhood project, etc.) in the light of a multidimensional understanding of vulnerability processes across the life course.

Following the collapse of the Soviet-style planned economies, the post-socialist region of Central and Eastern Europe has undergone a process of economic convergence after the initial shock of transition to a market economy. One stage in this process was accession to the European Union. Most of the countries in the region became members, making them eligible for further benefits and financial allocations. The extent to which these funds have been used effectively over the past decades varies from country to country, but overall, the convergence of these countries within the EU has continued. In this study, we examine the distribution of the net EU transfers to the post-socialist member states and their impact on macroeconomic and social indicators between 2004 and 2022. While these effects are clearly visible in terms of the formal economic and consumption indicators, they are less directly visible in terms of the informal wellbeing trends.

A térség országainak többsége tagállammá vált, ami a felzárkózást megcélzó további támogatásokra tette őket jogosulttá.
