Umbilicaria orientalis Davydov sp. nov. is described and phylogenetic analysis (ITS, mtLSU and RPB2 ) confirmed its distinctness and indicated a sister relationship with U. trabeculata within the U . vellea group. The species is morphologically similar to U. vellea but differs by simple, cylindrical or strap-like rhizinomorphs and by thalloconidia, developing both on the lower surface and on rhizinomorphs, that are 1–2 (rarely 4)–celled or in aggregates of up to 5–6 cells. Umbilicaria orientalis is described from the Russian Far East and is currently known from a wide range of localities in East Asia, from the Far East to South Siberia and Mongolia in the north, to Hebei and Tibet in the south. New sequences of U. americana were obtained; the species represents an independent phylogenetic lineage within Umbilicaria subg. Papillophora . Diagnostic traits and variability of different developmental stages of U. orientalis , as well as its East Asian distribution pattern, are discussed.
... Lichenochora hypanica (Kondratyuk et al. 2014) is another species growing on Endocarpon and with uniseptate, hyaline ascospores. Based on the characters provided in the original description, the morphology of L. hypanica does not correspond to that of the genus Lichenochora. ...
... Among other traits, Lichenochora has unitunicate asci and thick, irregular paraphyses that persist after the asci mature (Etayo & Navarro-Rosinés 2008). However, in Kondratyuk et al. (2014) there is no reference to the ascus type and it is stated that interascal filaments are visible only in young ascomata. Lichenochora hypanica is similar to A. symbiotica in having the ascomata completely immersed in the host thallus, although it differs in having an evanescent hamathecium and smaller spores (Table 1). ...

The lichenicolous fungus Rhagadodidymellopsis endocarpi (Dothideomyceta) growing on the thallus of the terricolous lichen Endocarpon pusillum is described from Spain and Australia as new to science. The new genus and species is compared with other taxa from the genera Didymellopsis and Zwackhiomyces (Xanthopyreniaceae, Collemopsidiales, Dothideomyceta), in particular with D. perigena, a species also having hyaline didymospores and also growing on Endocarpon. Rhagadodidymellopsis endocarpi is characterized by its almost completely superficial stromatic ascomata with a coarse and irregular surface, and an ascomatal wall of very irregular thickness, and ascospores smaller than those of D. perigena. We also compare the new species with other Endocarpon parasites, including Arthopyrenia symbiotica. This is a misunderstood species, originally described as Verrucaria symbiotica, which we also discuss in detail in this study.

The genus Lichenoconium (Lichenoconiaceae, Ascomycota) in Ukraine. Ukrainian Botanical Journal, 76(2): 101-113. Abstract. Revision of Ukrainian Lichenoconium specimens is provided. This genus is characterized by immersed to semi-immersed black globose conidiomata, phialidic hyaline conidiogenous cells and olive to brown simple conidia. Seven species of the genus are reported from the territory of Ukraine. These are L. aeruginosum, L. erodens, L. lecanorae, L. lichenicola, L. pyxidatae, L. usneae and L. xanthoriae. These species were found on thalli and apothecia of 18 different genera of lichens. Lichenoconium aeruginosum, L. lichenicola and L. pyxidatae have clear host specificity and grow only on one host genus. Other four species do not have host specificity. Lichenoconium erodens and L. lecanorae are widespread in Ukraine. Lichenoconium usneae is reported for the first time from the steppe zone of Ukraine. Seirophora lacunosa is a new host species of L. usneae. New localities of L. lichenicola and discussion about older dubious records are presented. Investigated Licheniconium species has parasitic life-strategy and affected the lichens that have mechanical damage or those weakened by other lichenicolous fungi. Lichenoconium pyxidatae and Didymocyrtis cladoniicola play an important role in regulating the populations of Cladonia foliacea in the Lower Dnipro sands. This phenomenon is known as "phomosis of Cladonia". Description, host lichens species, data about distribution in Ukraine, examined specimens and notes are provided for each species. An original identification key for Ukrainian species of Lichenoconium is given. Keywords: host specificity, lichenicolous fungi, parasitic life-strategy Дармостук В.В. 2019.

156 species of lichens and 44 species of lichenicolous fungi were found in the Trykraty granite massive. Lichenicolous fungi Cercidospora xanthoriae, Endococcus fusiger, Rosellinula frustulosae, Stigmidium squamariae, Tremella phaeophysciae, Xenonectriella leptaleae and lichen Coenogonium pineti are new for the steppe zone of Ukraine. 79 species of the lichens and 36 species of the lichenicolous fungi are reported for the first time for the National Nature Park “Buzky Gard”. Nine species were determined at the generic level and therefore require further identification. The exposed rock surfaces, seepage sites on granite, different soils in Aktovskiy, Arbuzynsky, Petropavlovsky canyons, ancient tree plantations in Nature Reserves “Labyrynt” and “Vasyleva Pasika” provided high gamma-diversity of the lichens and lichenicolous fungi in Trykraty granite massive. The nature habitats of this massive occupies of 750 ha and includes 200 species of lichens and lichenicolous fungi, therefore it is considered to be a hot-spot of biodiversity in plains of Ukraine. Eighty-four species of lichens were found in granite surfaces, 64 species – on bark of deciduous trees and only 12 species grow on soil between granite boulders. Thirty-six species of lichenicolous fungi were collected on saxicolous lichens. Lasallia pustulata is a lichen included in the Red Data Book of Ukraine which is protected in Trykraty department of the Natural Nature Park “Buzky Gard”. The lichens Acrocordia gemmata, Bacidia fraxinea, B. rubella, Caloplaca monacensis, Chaenotheca chlorella, C. trichialis, Cladonia uncialis, Coenogonium pineti, Lichinella nigritella, L. stipatula, Opegrapha niveoatra, Pseudoschismatomma rufescens, Ramalina intermedia, Scytinium gelatinosum, Xanthoparmelia loxodes and X. pokornyi were included to official list of species which require protection in Mykolaiv region.
