A BS TRA CT. During 2015-2017, 28 aphid species belonging to 12 genera were collected and identified on Asteraceae plants in North Khorasan province, Iran. Among these, three aphid species including Macrosiphoniella frigidivora Holman & Szelegiewicz, 1974, Macrosiphoniella szalaymarzsoi Szelegiewicz, 1978 and Protaphis iliensis Kadyrbekov, 2001 (He...

Examination of the materials on Cavatorium dumetorum (Dlabola, 1981), including the type specimens, revealed that Dlabola (1981) based his description of this species on mixed type series. C. dumetorum sensu stricto is clearly distinguished by male anal tube with latero-apical processes and ventral phallobase lobe narrowing apically. Another specie...

Aphids are an important group of agricultural crops pests so that by feeding on the plant sap they cause weakness and reducing the quantity and quality of yields. They also indirectly cause significant damage by transmitting viral pathogens. In this study, we tried to identify different species of aphids and their host plants in different habitats in southern areas of Zagros Mountains. The specimens were collected directly from their host plants from spring 2020 until end of summer 2021. Totally 66 aphid species belonging to 32 genera were identified on 64 host plant species. Amongst, Macrosiphoniella umarovi Narzikulov, 1972 is reported here for the first time from Iran. In addition, 22 species were reported for the first time from Fars province and five species from Kerman province.
... Iran comprises an extensive area in West Asia with a great diversity of environment and plant species, rich flora, various climatic conditions, indigenous geographic characteristics. With this perspective, only about 540 aphid species have been reported from Iran (Hodjat, 1993;Rezwani et al., 1994;Rezwani, 2004;Mehrparvar and Rezwani, 2007;Rezwani, 2010;Goodarzifar et al., 2016;Mehrparvar, 2016;Mehrparvar, 2017;Kanturski and Barjadze, 2018;Sedighi et al., 2018;Sedighi et al., 2020b;Sedighi et al., 2020a). Despite numerous studies on the aphid fauna of Iran, many regions have remained unexplored, and there is a chance that with more extensive investigations, the number of species will increase in the future. ...

More than 104 aphid species are living on Rosa spp. in the world. So far, only 14 of them were reported from Iran. In this study, besides the species already living on Rosa in Iran, two aphid taxa, i.e., Maculolachnus sijpkensi Hille Ris Lambers, 1962, and M. submacula (Walker, 1848) (Hem.: Aphididae) living on Rosa beggeriana are reported for the first time from Iran. Biometric data and biological characteristics of these two aphid species are given. An identification key to the apterous viviparous female aphids living on Rosa in Iran is provided.

This paper presents a checklist of aphids of Armenia. Nowadays, 203 species of aphids belonging to 83 genera, 10 subfamilies, two families and two superfamilies are known, of which nine species are recognized in Armenia for the first time: Aphis cephalariae Barjadze, A. chloris Koch, A. solanella Theobald, A. urticata Gmelin, A. wellensteini (Börner), Brachyunguis harmalae Das, Macrosiphoniella millefolii (De Geer), Microlophium carnosum (Buckton), and Metopeurum buryatica (Pashtshenko). Twelve alien aphid species are cited in the paper.

Brachyunguis dendrostellerae Kadyrbekov, 2014 and B. monstratus Kadyrbekov, 1999, both living on Diarthron lessertii (Wikstr.) Kit Tan. (Thymelaeaceae), are recorded for Iranian aphid fauna for the first time. The hitherto unknown alate viviparous females of B. dendrostellerae are described, and the little-known apterous viviparous females are redescribed. An identification key for apterous viviparous females of Brachyunguis species known from Iran is provided.
