Indonesia is a vast archipelago country with its great potential in mining industry. Nowadays, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) technology is used as an alternative for more effective mine mapping, compared to a conventional methods. In this study, remote sensing technology will be used to calculate the volume of mine excavation from two LiDAR p...

... Periodic scans are performed before and after ore removal, and the two scans are then compared. LiDAR is also used to calculate the volume of excavations [14] and even the volume of water in them [15]. In this article, LiDAR technology is used to acquire information on the geometry of the material on the crag being broken by a hydraulic hammer. ...
Article
In this article, the authors attempt to estimate the volume of rock pieces using the laser scanning technique supported by measurements from the RGB camera. Laboratory tests were performed, based on which the error in estimating the size of the fragments was determined based on the available perspectives. With a known estimation error, the volume of the ore chunks was estimated based on data from a single perspective. The presented methodology makes it possible to determine an unital numerical measure to compare Hydraulic Breaker Hammers (HBH) and Lekatech Electric Hammer (LEH) by estimating the energy consumption determined through electric current measurements.
