The purpose of the study was to examine the imagery program in Thai Sport School Cyclist-Students. The experiment was designed in duration of 10 weeks at Lampang Sport School, Thailand. Samples consisted of 66 cyclist-students through random purposive sampling, of male (46) and female (20). They were separated into two groups of experiment (33) and...

... Lastly, it can enhance athletes' motivation and confidence in achieving their goals. Athletes who have fulfilled all of their physical and mental preparation are expected to win [15]. As a result, there is a need for innovation that can capture the attention of players while also lowering the time necessary to generate excellent images. ...

Imagery has been used by athletes and exercisers to achieve a variety of affective, cognitive, and behavioural outcomes. Mental imagery of planned activities increases the motivation of participation. Expectations of reward are associated with significantly more vivid imagery. Therefore, there is a need to implement virtual reality imagery, a new innovation in sport imagery that has the potential to attract players’ attention while reducing the time required to achieve an effective level of imagery. 60 Sarawakian youth football players (Mean ± SD = 21.08 ± 1.49) volunteered to participate in this study. They were randomly assigned to one of the three research conditions: Virtual Reality Imagery Group (VRI; n = 20), Imagery Script Group (IS; n = 20), and Control Group (CG; n = 20). Both of the VRI and IS received kicking skills training for 12 weeks. No intervention was given to the CG. Sports Motivation Scale-6 Questionnaire (SMS-6) and the Mor-Christian Football Kicking Test were employed at both the pre- and post-test. As a result, VRI demonstrated higher performance than the other groups, F(2.57) = 5.53, p = 0.006. Hence, it can be concluded that VRI could aids in the improvement of the kicking skill performance among the Sarawak youth football players.KeywordsImageryVirtual realityFootball MotivationYoung athletes
... The results of the current finding found that PIM training program can produce high impact to this jump shot technique by showing improvement in shooting performance. This supports the finding by Rattanakoses, Geok, Chong, and Sofian (2012) which mentioned that imagery training is an effective mental skill for enhancing skill acquisition of complex skill. As said by Morris, Spittle, and Watt (2005) the effectiveness of imagery training is due to the athlete's ability to use imagery Malaysian Journal of Sport Science and Recreation Vol.17. ...
... The present finding strongly suggests that by combining physical practice and imagery training in PIM training program, it brings about impact to the shooting performance for the athletes. This is consistent with the findings of Rattanakoses, Geok, Chong, and Sofian (2012) reported that the physical skill of cyclists increased and improved after completing the physical training program with a combination of visual imagery. Specifically, several previous studies showed that the combination of physical practices and PETTLEP imagery model produced positive influence on sports skill performances compared to the group which did not receive this kind of combination (Smith, Wright, & Cantwell, 2008;Mazlan, 2014). ...

Practice in Mind (PIM) training help to resolve physical and psychological problem in sport skills performance. Therefore, the present study was done to investigate the effectiveness of PIM training on netball standing shot and jump shot performances. Twenty state level netball shooters with 3 to 5 years playing experiences participated in this experimental study. Participants were randomly assigned into PIM training group and control group with 10 participants for each group. Both groups completed 18 training sessions in 3 times a week for 6 weeks intervention program. Pre, post, and retention test were conducted prior to the 10 standing and jump shooting task. The results revealed that there was significant different of PIM training group versus control group for both standing shot (p < .05) and jump shot (p<.05) after 6 weeks. However, no significant different was observed after retention (week 12) for both groups. Based on the finding, it is suggested this present study will be beneficial to the athletes in terms of educating them about the importance of systematic imagery training to increase shooting performance in netball and for further improvement on their shooting techniques. Future studies are warranted to explore potential benefits of PIM training by focusing on a larger exposure and other netball specific motor-abilities.
... In performing the imagery training, it needs a training program in order to improve individual ability [18]. The similar opinion is also stated by Guillot and Collet who state that the script imagery training is strategy that must be prepared when implementing imagery training program, the script will determine the success of imagery training [19]. ...

Imagery training had been proven to improve skills in some athletes in sports training. Yet in education, it left a big question. The purpose of this research was to prove whether the learning process integrated by imagery training could improve learning outcomes in cartwheel skill. The research method used Classroom Action Research method with two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages, namely: preparation, implementation, observation, and reflection. The action was conducted by the integration of imagery training in learning cartwheel motion. Data collection techniques used observation and performance test. The increase of learning outcomes in skill aspects of 34 students reached 58.82% in the first cycle, and increased to be 76.67% in the second cycle. The result of the study showed that through learning process integrated by imagery training could improve learning outcomes in gymnastic material about cartwheel skill.
... The results of the current finding found that PIM training program is able to produce high impact to this jump shot technique by showing improvement of shooting accuracy. Past researchers have mentioned that imagery training is an effective mental skill for enhancing skill acquisition of complex skill [19]. As previous researchers found the effectiveness of imagery training is due to the athlete's ability to use imagery effectively with a concentration on the information that was given through the senses [5]. ...
