Optical access networks are the prominent and promising cutting edge technology to provide high speed, and cost effective operation for meeting the requirements of ever-increasing demands of users. Multiple access techniques such as Wavelength and time division in passive optical networks are important innovations to provide high capacity. A mode division multiplexed back compatible integrated next generation PON2 (TWDM PON) and GPON is demonstrated with triple play supportability in this work. Proposed system offer pay as you grow feature and also provide enhanced performance by suppressing the inter-channel interference in TWDM-PON2. System successfully works on same optical distribution network unit for both PON standards without extra arrangements and has potential to support 62.5 Gbps in full duplex mode (Symmetrical downlink/uplink). Moreover, demonstrated back compatible system is analyzed by incorporating diverse modulations such as NRZ-DPSK, RZ-DPSK, RZ-DQPSK, NRZ-DPSK and linecodings NRZ, RZ. Received power, Optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR), BER and Q factor are noted at diverse link lengths and it is noteworthy that LP modes with NRZ in TWDM PON provide outstanding results.

Broadband telecommunication networks are the future of communication and distribution of multimedia services. Thanks to the high transmission potential and capacity of optical fibres, the optical networks are predestined to be more widely used in telecommunications considering the higher data rates through Triple Play services. This paper describes the impact of selected quality parameters on multimedia services defined as Triple Play within an optical network based on the EPON standard. The Triple Play services are then evaluated with measuring instruments and software applications according to QoS requirements and using evaluation methods based on generally defined standards. These are mainly subjective (listening and conversational) and objective (MSE, PSNR, SSIM) methods, or parameters (MOS) and factors (bitrate, delay, packet loss rate, jitter, BER) that are defined for the respective service. The values measured during the experimental tests were related to the limiting parameters of optical topology based on EPON networks for individual services according to their QoS requirements and objective user evaluation.

Time Wavelength Division Multiplexing-Passive Optical Network (TWDM-PON) has been opted being a key driver for Next Generation-Passive Optical Network2 (NG-PON2). This paper proposed the option of backward compatibility of TWDM-PON with conventional Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) a long with Radio Frequency Video Overlay has been demonstrated. The two versions of PON exist over the same infrastructure as per NG-PON2 requirement to investigate its feasibility and cost effectiveness. Further FTTP link based on 2.5 Gbps bi-directional GPON using multiple modulation formats is evaluated for the provisioning of triple play services including data, voice and video. The proposed system is a novel approach capable of providing backward compatibility and ‘pay-as-you grow’ features. This is an emerging solution for future bandwidth demands and allows telecommunications service providers with efficient network planning and expansion flexibility. The performance analysis and comparison is done using multiple modulation schemes and on the basis of eye diagram, Q factor, Optical Signal to Noise Ratio and optical power received. It is observed that Return to Zero-Differntial Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (RZ-DQPSK) for GPON and Non Return to Zero (NRZ) for TWDM-PON has better end-to-end results.

In this paper, a full duplex Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) architecture supporting 10Gbps data transmission through single fiber cable network is proposed and demonstrated. A Non Return to Zero Differential Phase Shift Keying (NRZ-DPSK) is utilized for downstream and re-modulate the downstream signal using intensity modulator (on-off keying OOK) in Return to Zero (RZ) format in order to transmit upstream data, sustaining data rate of 10 Gbps/channel is an optimized network in full duplex mode. Simulation results shows that uninterrupted transmission using 50 GHz channel spacing is accomplish over a distance of 25 km.

Machine learning methods have scarcely been applied in forensic soil analysis. In this work, an ultra-performance liquid chromatography technique was used in profiling non-volatile organic compounds from five different red and brown soils, respectively. Each sample was injected in triplicate into the instrument. As a result, the data matrix composing 30 rows (i.e. samples) and 18 000 columns (i.e. retention time points) was first explored using principal component analysis. Then, the chromatographic data were modeled using the K-nearest neighbor algorithm for discriminating and classifying the 30 chromatograms by soil color and origin, respectively. Several K-nearest neighbor models were constructed by considering (a) two different input regions, i.e. full and truncated chromatograms, and (b) four values of the number of nearest neighbors (K): 1, 2, 3 and 4. Score plots of principal component analysis indicated that the soils showing different colors but sharing the same origin were not always clustered together. Despite that, most of the K-nearest neighbor models have achieved prediction accuracy rates close to 100%.KeywordsForensic Soil AnalysisK-nearest neighbor (K-NN)Ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC)

Receiving sensitivity for GPON service is an important part, for better service, maintaining QoS and SLA. GPON has a wide range of wavelengths for service activation and also has different receiving sensitivities. Operators' requirements are increasing for STM, E1 traffic along with GPON triple-play service. GPON can use 1310 to 1610 nm wavelength both for triple play (voice, video and data) and quad play (SDH traffic, voice, video and data). In this paper, a graphical comparison is presented in the context of receiving sensitivity both for triple and quad play. The simulation is designed in two steps (triple play and quad play) using the OPTSim simulator. Graphical comparison is made separately for voice and data, video and eye diagram for SDH traffic.KeywordsVideo Source (VS)Triple Play (TP)Quad Play (QP)SDHWavelengthOLT

In this paper, an evaluation is performed of 2.5Gbps bi directional GPON based Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) link using advanced modulation formats. Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) is a promising solution for increasing bandwidth requirements of customers which supports triple play services and is being considered as a solution for mobile back haul network. It also enables the delivery of cloud services with a high interconnection speed. The performance of the proposed system was studied when a single wavelength and two wavelengths were used for triple-play services with different modulation schemes. This paper is aimed to provide a comparison of the performance of different modulation formats for GPON based simulation of an actual architecture considering Q factor, BER, optical power and OSNR. The outcome shows that better results were observed for RZ DQPSK.
