A natural bat wing flaps in a folding in and out mo- tion with the wing area almost double during the downstroke mo- tion and the wing area contracts during the upstroke motion (as can be seen in Fig. 2). This is because it is to minimize the nega- tive lift forces of the upstroke motion while maximizing the posi- tive lift of the downstroke motion.
