A total of 14 species of Cladonia were found, of which four are new records: Cladonia latiloba and C. ochracea are new records to Paraná; C. merochlorophaea and C. polyscypha are new records to Santa Catarina. Most of the species were found both in restinga vegetation and on rocky shores. Cladonia flagellaris and C. litoralis were found only on roc...

The new corticolous lichen fungus Platythecium seychellense is described from the Seychelles. Morphological characters as well as distribution and resemblance to related species are discussed. The species is characterized by a crustose, grey-green, smooth thallus lacking lichen substances, elongate and slender apothecia having flat, red-brown discs...

More specimens of Hydnotrya have been collected from southwestern China in recent years. Morphological and molecular analyses showed that they belonged to three species of Hydnotrya , of which two are new to science, H. oblongispora and H. zayuensis . The third one was H. laojunshanensis , previously reported in 2013. The new species are described,...

Seven foliicolous species growing in tropical regions of Vietnam are reported as new to the country. Described are Arthonia accolens, Calenia aspidota, Calopadia subcoerulescens, Coenogonium minimum, Fellhanera rhapidophylli, F. semecarpi, and Porina subnitidula. Among them, Coenogonium minimum and Porina subnitidula are reported for the first time...

Several micro fungi were gathered from bamboo and palm in Guizhou Province, China. In morphology, these taxa resemble Neomassaria , Roussoella and Oxydothis . Multi-gene phylogenetic analyses based on combined ITS, LSU, SSU, rpb 2 and tef 1 loci confirmed that two are new geographical records for China, ( viz. Roussoella siamensis , Neomassaria fab...

Little is known about the species of Cladonia that occur in the states of Paraná and Santa Catarina, in southern Brazil. Information about the occurrence of lichens in restinga (a type of coastal vegetation in Brazil) is very scarce and there are no records from rocky shores. The main goal of the present work was to make an intensive survey of Clad...

... In Brazil, Leptogium diversity is better known in states where there are lichen checklists, as Santa Catarina (gumboski & eliasaro 2011) and rio grande do Sul (Spielmann 2006). however, new species and new records were published when detailed studies were made (gumboski & eliasaro 2012a, 2012b, Kitaura & Marcelli 2012, Kitaura et al. 2014, Feuerstein et al. 2016, lücking et al. 2017. among the previously cited species to Mato grosso do Sul are Leptogium brebissonii Mont. in Webb & Berthel. ...

The diversity of Leptogium has been underestimated in Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. Nine species are being reported for the first time to the state, including L. microcarpum, as new record to Brazil; and L. cyanizum, as new record to the American continent. Furthermore, L. hondae, L. moluccanum var. denticulatum and L. quilombensis are proposed as new to science. The first key to species of Leptogium is provided for this region, which can also be used for surrounding regions in Brazil.

The crustose lichen biota of coastal rocks in South Brazil was investigated. Several distinct lichen zones were found: a littoral black zone, a supralittoral yellow zone and a grey zone with species restricted to either exposed granite, dry overhangs, damp overhangs or places subjected to run-off. Dendrographa austrosorediata is newly described, with a crustose, flat to partly curling up or blister-like thallus which is much dissected, whitish grey, 0·1–0·2 mm thick; surface minutely densely cracked, rimose, with cracks intersecting at each c. 0·1 mm; soredia whitish to bluish grey but asymmetrically blackened in the direction facing the light, originating on the thallus surface, in initially discrete convex soralia. The phylogenetic position of this new species was traced by molecular methods. Stigmidium marinum , generally regarded as a lichenicolous fungus, was found as a free-living lichen, thousands of kilometres away from the nearest known occurrence of any purported host.

Calopadia saxicola is described as new to science. The species grows on rocky shores in southern Brazil and is characterized by the corticate thallus, pruinose apothecia with brownish to reddish brown disc, mainly 2–3-spored asci with muriform ascospores, and the absence of secondary metabolites. A description with ecological data, figures, comments and a key to all species in the genus known from Brazil are given.

Parmotrema marcellii is described as a new saxicolous species on granitic rocks in the rocky shores of Santa Catarina State, southern Brazil. The rocky shores generally are extensions of rocky mountains, near the coast, reaching the sea floor. They are included among the less studied environments in Brazil and despite showing a remarkable lichenized fungi diversity, just over 10 % of the species on Brazilian rocky shores are supposed to be known. From southern Brazil, a total of 33 species representing the parmelioid lichens and distributed in nine genera are so far known. The Parmotrema species form the largest and most important portion of the lichenized micobiota of this habitat, with over half the number of known species producing medullary salazinic acid. Belonging to this group, the new species presented here is characterized by reticulate maculate upper cortex, bacilliform conidia and marginal to mainly submarginal pustules that usually form dense agglomerations forming no soredia. Herein, we describe this new species and compare it with other morphologically similar species.

Cladonia dunensis is described. The new species resembles C. celata in the corticate and scyphose podetia that are simple at first before branching fastigiately but differs in forming squamulose podetia and producing psoromic acid. Seven Cladonia species are reported for the first time from beach dune environments in the coastal plain of Santa Catarina State, southern Brazil.
