This chapter shows that other areas of the Andes (Colombia and Bolivia in particular) have also produced significant collections of Cenozoic mammals. Smaller collections have come from the Andes of Ecuador and Peru. Most of these localities are north of the Tropic of Capricorn, well outside the traditionally well-sampled southern part of the contin...

An ongoing study of the longhorned beetle fauna in the cloud forests of Cusuco National Park revealed multiple additions to the Honduran fauna. Four new species are described: Heterachthes caceresae sp. nov. (Cerambycinae, Neoibidionini), Oreodera kawasae sp. nov. (Lamiinae, Acrocinini), Phrynidius guifarroi sp. nov. (Lamiinae, Apomecynini), and Strangalia lunai sp. nov. (Lepturinae, Lepturini). Additionally, Lagocheirus parvulus Casey, 1913 (Lamiinae, Acanthocinini) is revalidated as Lagocheirus araneiformis parvulus Casey, 1913 (Lagochirus [sic]). We recorded Arixiuna varians (Bates, 1881) (Lamiinae, Hemilophini) for the fi rst time for Honduras. These fi ndings confi rm how poorly the invertebrate biodiversity of cloud forests is documented and hints at the large number of species we are losing with the ongoing deforestation.

CONTRIBUTION TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF LAMIINAE (COLEOPTERA: CERAMBYCIDAE) IN THE STATE OF MATO GROSSO, BRAZIL ABSTRACT: The Class Insecta, represents 80% of the Animal Kingdom and order Coleoptera is the most diverse, concerning the number of species, with the most varied eating habits. Among the xylophagous insects stand out from the family Cerambycidae and few studies have reported the presence of Lamiinae in the Amazon region. Thus, this study aimed to contribute to the knowledge of the fauna of Lamiinae from the northern state of Mato Grosso. The insects were collected in the years 2008-2010, in forest area, at night, from 18:00 to 06:00 h, with light traps in two areas: Municipalities Claudia (11º34'54.0"S; 55º17'15.6" W) and Sinop (11º87' 20.9" S 55º47' 48.6" W). In entomology laboratory of Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso (UFMT), Campus of Sinop, the insects were sorted, mounted, and separated to identification to species level. The present contribution listed 20 species of Lamiinae for the state of Mato Grosso, distributed in 11 tribes and 18 genera, with four new occurrences for the state and eight for the northern region of the state and contributes to the knowledge of the richness and distribution of some species of Ceramcycidae, which are good indicators of different compartments of the system. Keywords: beetles; Insect; inventory; Southern Amazon.

The following 10 new synonymies in Onciderini are proposed: Euthima wendtae Martins, 1979 = Euthima variegata (Aurivillius, 1921); Ischiocentra nobilitata Thomson, 1868 = Ischiocentra clavata Thomson, 1861; Japi Martins & Galileo, 2012 = Oncideres Lacordaire, 1830; Japi duartei Martins & Galileo, 2012 = Oncideres pectoralis Thomson, 1868; Oncideres aurantiaca Galileo & Martins, 2010 = Oncideres fulvostillata Bates, 1872; Oncideres estebani Martins & Galileo, 2010 = Oncideres putator brevifasciata Dillon & Dillon, 1946; Oncideres maculosa Redtenbacher, 1868 = Lochmaeocles fasciatus (Lucas, 1859); Oncideres sparsemaculatus Martins & Galileo, 2010 = Oncideres ocellaris Bates, 1885; Ubytyra Galileo & Martins, 2012 = Hesychotypa Thomson, 1868; Ubytyra tuberosa Galileo & Martins, 2012 = Hesychotypa morvanae Audureau, 2012. Oncideres miliaris (Voet, 1778) and Trachysomus dromedarius (Voet, 1778) are nomina nuda; Oncideres miliaris (Schönherr, 1817) is the correct name for the former and Trachysomus verrucosus (Olivier, 1795) is the correct name for the latter. A neotype is designated for Lamia miliaris Schönherr, 1817 and Oncideres miliaris (Schönherr, 1817) is redescribed. Lectotypes are designated for the following seven species: Ischiocentra alternans Aurivillius, 1920; Lamia acromii Dalman, 1823; Lamia albisparsa Germar, 1824; Lamia globifera Fabricius, 1801; Lamia impluviata Germar, 1824; Lamia ulcerosa Germar, 1824; Oncideres maculosus Redtenbacher, 1868. Forty-one new country records are also reported in Onciderini.

Taeniotes farinosus (Linnaeus, 1758) is a species that has been confused with other species during the past two centuries. In this work we demonstrate that Taeniotes farinosus sensu auctorum is not the species described by Linnaeus and designate a lectotype to establish its identity. Taeniotes pulverulentus (Olivier, 1790), currently synonymous with T. farinosus, is revalidated. Taeniotes guttullaris Schwarzer, 1929 and T. parafarinosus Breuning, 1971 are junior synonyms of T. pulverulentus; Lamia subocellata Olivier, 1792 ( = Taeniotes subocellatus) is a junior synonym of Cerambyx farinosus ( = T. farinosus). Additionally we provide annotated bibliographic references to T. farinosus and T. pulverulentus. Taeniotes monnei, a new species from Brazil and Argentina, is described and figured. Taeniotes peruanus Breuning 1971 is figured for the first time.
