Examples of duricrust (dark red breccias) at outcrop. a-Accumulation horizon lying almost directly above the bedrock (RM) and with a strongly reduced C lithomarge (Castelnou), bLaterally (Castelnou), the lithomarge C can reach 130 cm in thickness. Note the disposition of the duricrust as a protruding bank making it very easy to detach for an eventual exploitation (similar banks are observed in San Quirze and Err), c-Duricrust horizons 30 to 50 cm-thick almost in direct contact with the bedrock (San Quirze of Colera), d-Block of duricrust beside a block of cipolin (bed of the Baillaury River, next to Banyuls), e-Outcrop on a slope of the brecciated duricrust horizon (bank of the ravine of the Baillousque, South of Err).
