... Somehow, through a combination of content, design, and technology, infographics recreate content to convey the knowledge they carry. Siricharoen and Vinh (2017) argued that an effective infographic leads readers to interpretations using mainly visual representations essentially conveying information as well as their relationships. Baer and Vaccara (2010) provided a range of interesting case studies, from print projects to interactive and environmental information systems. ...

In this book the focus is on graphic design. The practice of graphic design is as old as recorded history. The purpose of work with graphic design is to find a suitable presentation for the content with respect to the receiver, the subject matter, the medium, and the financial situation. Within a given area, such as a page in a book, a poster, a label, a computer screen, or a projected image the designer may alter the design of headings, margins, ornaments, pictures, space, symbols, and text. Graphic design is used as an important “tool” in the other four parts of message design. The most fundamental design technique is reduction. In graphic design the main objective is to provide functional, aesthetic, and organised structure to all kinds of information sets. Human Computer Interaction (HCI) is a theory in which we are trying to find ways to enable humans to work with machines or computers and to help people understand the information presented. Data visualization and information visualization are formal ways to intervene in complex information and deliver it to viewers effectively. Infographics help to reduce digestion time for complex data, and have the advantage of making it possible to connect people effectively with all types of data, and that is why we should use infographics as a powerful visual information delivery medium. By using best practices in visualizing interactive data, we are able to separate out meaningful and interesting stories. Based on information provided by the powerful User Experience (UX) community, we can make the world easier to navigate and more fun. There are many ways to evaluate infographics and UX. And with the silimilarity of their evaluation criteria, it means good infographics can help maximize the UX evaluation score. This paper is extending observations on how people evaluate infographics and combine that evaluation with the consideration of UX benefits.
... They provide crucial data and information while being fun to read and comprehend (Siricharoen & Siricharoen, 2015). According to Siricharoen and Vinh (2016), infographic is a visual representation of information, facts, or expertise that can be created using a variety of software; some are easier to use than others. A variety of websites can be used to visualize data. ...
... The cores of infographics include visual elements, content elements, and knowledge. Relevant to this, Siricharoen and Vinh (2016) constructed an infographic evaluation-questions matrix according to dimensions of evaluation such ash data, sources, story and flow, design style, color and size, icons, diagrams and charts, words, and publisher. These dimensions of evaluation were classified into the three foundation of infographics which are visual and content elements, and knowledge. ...
... Additionally, a survey questionnaire on the extent of integration of the infographic design elements to the developed PBL infographic material was utilized. This questionnaire was patterned from Siricharoen and Vinh (2016) with 41 statements to identify the incorporation of infographic design elements in terms of visual elements, content elements, and knowledge elements. A 4-point Likert scale was also employed to provide higher degree of dispersion and decrease neutral responses ranging from highly integrated to not integrated (4highly integrated; 3moderately integrated; 2slightly integrated; 1not integrated). ...

The study utilized descriptive-developmental research design through the use of integrated, adapted, and expert-validated survey questionnaires, pretest and posttest to find the effects of self-designed problem-based infographic material as supplementary learning tool in advancing the scientific knowledge of thirty (30) Grade 7 students in a public high school in San Pablo City. Modular distance learning related factors and the preferred multimedia resources of the respondents were obtained. Results showed that the problem-based learning stages – problem comprehension, curriculum exploring, and problem solving, and the infographic design elements – visual, content, and knowledge elements, were highly integrated in the developed infographic material. As to the overall acceptability of the problem-based infographic material, intellectual, life skills, and affective development were perceived to be acceptable. Scores of the respondents as to the scientific knowledge – content knowledge, procedural knowledge, and epistemic knowledge, were found to have increased after utilizing the material. Statistical tests of difference also reflected significantly on the scientific knowledge of the learners implying that the use of problem-based infographic material has improved the skills of the learners while no significant relationship to the intellectual, life skills, and affective development. This concludes that the acceptability of the problem-based infographic material partially affects the scientific knowledge of the students.
... However, literature also shows that motion graphics might have greater learning benefits and engage users more than static graphics (Höffler and Leutner, 2007;Berney and Bétrancourt, 2016;Siricharoen and Vinh, 2017). Terrorism represents one of the most pressing contemporary security threats. As a consequence, governments provide information to the public on threat levels and on how to respond to terror incidents. To effectively reassure the public, and to increase their vigilance, it is essential that the information communicated is accessible, clear, actionable and engaging. This is the first empirical study in the world to explore the impact of information design principles and visualization of information on the communication of security information related to terrorism. Two different but complementary strands were devised: Strand 1 – compared whether more visualized information was more effective than text dense information at communicating to the public; Strand 2 – compared whether a motion graphics was more effective than an infographic at communicating to the public. An initial usability test was conducted to identify existing problems and needs. Several other usability tests and iterations were then conducted to develop new design solutions. Empirical testing was then conducted for final evaluation and validation, collecting quantitative and qualitative data. Results show significant differences between pre- and post-knowledge of the Terror Threat Levels. Results also show significant differences between text dense information and more visualized information. Results further show no significant difference between communicating information via an infographic or motion graphics in situations where information needs to be assimilated as a crescendo (i.e. levels of severity) or as a series of steps to be followed (action in an emergency). This study provides important guidelines on how to effectively communicate security information to the public, with practical implications for security agencies.
