Early pollen tube development in tomato Early pollen tube growth starts with hydration and formation of the glebula (0 -10 min) and ends when an established pollen tube (90 min) is formed. Pollen tube growth can escape the effects of PRALF up to the transition from constant growth to oscillating growth (20 min). This is also the time the male germ unit (MGU) migrates into the tube. Tubes are sensitive to PRALF between 20 and 60 minutes (Window of PRALF sensitivity). Pollen tubes begin to become insensitive to PRALF starting around 50 min and are completely insensitive at 90 minutes.

The recessive genetic male sterility (RGMS) system plays a key role in the production of hybrid varieties in self-pollinating B. napus plants, and prevents negative cytoplasmic effects. However, the complete molecular mechanism of the male sterility during male-gametogenesis in RGMS remains to be determined. To identify transcriptomic changes that...

The morphological patterns of sporoderm development are illustrated by the example of pollen grains with different aperture types based on published results of transmission electron microscopy (TEM). It is noted that all studied pollen grains are characterized by the development of the periplasmic space between the plasmalemma and callose, where th...

Proper organization of the actin cytoskeleton is crucial for pollen tube growth. However, the precise mechanisms by which the actin cytoskeleton regulates pollen tube growth remain to be further elucidated. The functions of the actin cytoskeleton are dictated by its spatial organization and dynamics. However, early observations of the distribution...

SUMMARY - Traditionally, self-compatibility has been assessed in almond by microscopic observation of the pollen tube growth from the stigma to the style base after self-pollination in laboratory conditions. Recently, S- alleles have been determined through the expression of the product of each allele in the style, the stylar S- RNases. Previous st...
