A taxonomic revision of the Iranian species of the family Cossidae is conducted. Sixthy-nine species and 16 subspecies in 26 genera and five subfamilies, namely Catoptinae, Mehariinae, Stygiinae, Cossinae and Zeuzerinae, are identified. Two new species Dyspessa milkoi sp. n. (Type locality: Kyrgyzstan, Tash-Kumyr) and Dyspessa skrylniki sp. n. (Type locality: Tajikistan, Gissar Mts., Anzob Pass) are described. The article is illustrated with imagoes of type specimens and genitalia of both new species.

We describe for the first time the male genitalia of four little studied taxa of carpenter moths of the genus Catopta in the Middle East, namely C. kendevanensis Daniel, 1937, C. anjumanica Daniel, 1964, C. rocharva Sheljuzhko, 1943 and C. eberti Daniel, 1964, as well as the female genitalia of C. kendevanensis. Catopta anjumanica stat. n. is upgraded from subspecies of C. kendevanensis to the species level. The wing pattern of holotypes C. kendevanensis, C. anjumanica and C. eberti are illustrated. A distribution map is provided for all species.

Paracossulus thrips (Hübner, 1818) is a protected species in Europe through the Council Directive 92/43/ EEC. Pupal exuviae belonging to this species were found at each of two patches at Chepan Mt. (Western Bulgaria) characterised by Phlomis tuberosa L. being a dominant plant species. This is the first record of this host plant of P. thrips in Bulgaria. Habitat types are provided for both patches of the host plant. Searching for exuviae is discussed as a preferred technique for monitoring this moth species.

The article describes two species new to science from southern Tajikistan: Dyspessa igoripljushtchi sp. nov. (type locality: Darvaz Mts., Khaburabot pass) and Dyspessa paki sp. nov. (type locality: Khozratishokh Range, Muminabad distr., Lijaki-Bolo vill.). We give a detailed analysis of features distinguishing them from closely related Central Asian species. The article is illustrated with 8 figures.

The attraction of males of Stygioides colchicus (Herrich-Schäffer, 1851) (Cossidae) to the sex attractant for males of Synanthedon andrenaeformis (Laspeyres, 1801) (Sesiidae) was clearly recorded for the first time. This attractant turned out to be a mixture of (3E, 13Z)-octadeca-3,13-dienyl acetate and (2E, 13Z)-octadeca-3,13-dienyl acetate in a ratio of 1:1. The use of this sex attractant made it possible to discover new localities of S. colchicus in Russia. The nomenclatural history of this species is discussed in detail.
