The present investigation was carried out at the Microbial and Biotechnology laboratories of the Genetics Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University, Assuit, Egypt, during the period 2018 – 2023. The objective of this study was to obtain an enhanced B. thuringiensis with high efficacy against mosquito larvae that could be used in biologi...

Context 1
... 100 bacterial isolates with similar morphological characteristics to B. thuringiensis (Table 2) were obtained from 9 different locations (Assiut university farm, Menqabad, Al-Ghanaim, Posra, Arab almadabigh, Sedfa, Sahel Salim, AlFath, West country) and different sources (water, soil and insects). The 100 bacterial isolates were morphologically screened, and colonies showed round shapes with wavy edges and no pigment morphology were furthermore checked by inoculation on a selection media containing penicillin G (100 mg/L). ...
Context 2
... the morphological screening, all the isolates were examined for their mortality to mosquito larvae. Out of the 100 isolates, only 36 isolates showed a mortality effect on mosquito larvae (Table 2), so these isolates were selected for further investigations. The rest of the isolates (64 isolates) did not give a mortality rate (results are not shown), so they were excluded from further experiments. ...

African sicklefish, Drepane africana is the only member of the family Drepaneidae found and reported in Nigerian waters. Despite its prominence in catches there is a dearth of detailed published information on morphological features and molecular identification of the species off the Niger Delta coast. This study was carried out to assess its morph...

Phosphate solubilizing fungi are fungi that can convert phosphate in soil from compound form (almost insoluble) into ionic form (easily soluble) so that it can be utilized by plants. The purpose of this study was to determine the isolation and characteristics of phosphate solubilizing fungi isolates found in fruit and vegetable peel waste compost....
