In natural medicinal system, the usage of herbs plays a vital role in curing various ailments. Baliospermum montanum L., a regionally vulnerable important herb needs conservation efforts. Studies have been conducted on the propagation through stems, seeds, and micropropagation. The availability of enough plants becomes a major criterion for raising medicinal plants on a large scale. This study aimed to investigate the role of different root-inducing substances and their rooting potential in single-leaf cuttings. In the first experiment, different aged leaves (old, mature, and young) were tried, and the results indicated that the mature leaves had a positive impact on all plant growth regulator (PGRs) cuttings, especially the auxins that were tested. No response was observed for other compounds such as honey, sugar, or undiluted tender coconut water (TCW). Leaf health scores were recorded based on changes in leaf color. The second experiment targeted varying levels of PGRs on the rooting parameters of the mature leaves. In terms of root numbers, IAA (500 ppm) produces 12.5 roots per leaf cutting followed by 11.1 in IAA (1,000 ppm) and 11.1 in IAA (200 ppm). It is superior to IBA and has a minimal response in the NAA. The root length was highest in IBA (1,000 ppm) immersed leaves at 13.6 cm followed by 12.4 cm and 9.8 cm in IAA 500 ppm and IAA 200 ppm respectively. Rooted leaves were planted in wet soil for further root and shoot growth. A reasonable rooting rate in IAA alone was observed after 7 weeks in the soil. So, we minimized the starting material through this leaf propagation procedure.

Plant growth regulators consist of a large group of naturally occurring or synthetically produced organic chemicals and considered as a helping tool in the modern production system of ornamentals. Their exogenous application helps to improve the different economically important and market desirable characteristics of ornamental plants. The effects of PGRs in plants depend on various factors which play an important role to achieve expected results. These factors include the application method, time of application, concentration of PGRs, plant species and also the environmental conditions in which plants are grown. The intensity of applications is also considered an important factor affecting the efficacy of PGRs, as some plants respond well to a single application, but in most cases, multiple applications are beneficial to attain good results. This review briefly discusses the different areas in which PGRs are used in flower crops.
... Among the two planting materials studied, leaf bud cutting was found to be the best when compared to the single bud cutting. It is similar to the findings reported earlier that the propagation of chrysanthemum through leaf cuttings under in vivo conditions, increased the rate of regeneration of plants by 10-15 times as compared to the conventional method of propagation by terminal stem cuttings (Singh, and Chettri, 2013). Of the three growing media taken for study, enriched cocopeat followed by cocopeat + sand were identified as the best when compared to dam silt. ...

Chrysanthemum plant is considered one of the ornamental plants and cut flowers at the level of local and export production, recently. Alternaria leaf spot and blight disease are considered one of the most important diseases, which it has negatively effects on flower yield under greenhouse conditions with climate changes. This study confirmed the possibility of using plant extracts and bio-agents as a single component in an integrated control program to control Alternaria leaf spot and blight disease in chrysanthemum plants in Egypt. The disease was inventoried to the three regions of Heliopolis, (HelCa), in Darwa (MGQa) and Ezbat Al-Ahaly (MGQa) at El Qanater El Khaireya, which the symptoms were found in the form of brown spots and blight on the leaves and rotting of the flowers, also disease incidence (%) were 87.15, 61.44 and 38.72%, respectively. A total of 97 fungal isolates of Alternaria spp. were isolated. In vitro, the pathogenicity was tested by detached leaf inoculation using a single droplet technique over a period of 7-14 days, where the frequency of the high virulent isolates was (19.6%). The molecular identification was carried out using rDNA ITS for five highest pathogenic isolates, which the result was Alternaria alternata, where the process of cultural and morphological identification of MGQa-FYhd2(1-3) which the highest pathogenic isolate was completed. This isolate was tested with 10 different plant extracts that were extracted by methanolic extraction. Clude extract was the best result where EC 50 was 502.4 ppm and EC 90 was 281.6 ppm while the cinnamon extract expressed the EC 50 value of 1969.2 ppm and EC 90 was 10356.1 ppm. The bio-agents tesing showed the best treatments which inhibition of mycelial growth of the tested pathogen were Trichoderma harzianum (71.39%), and followed by Bacillus subtilis (69.41%).

Single leaf-bud cutting has been attempted in an effort to produce multiple individuals; however, these cuttings produce individuals of irregular quality with different rooting abilities based on the cutting positions of the mother stem. We evaluated whether light and 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) treatment can improve root formation from relatively poor stem cuttings on single leaf-bud cuttings and which factor is more effective for rapid root formation. Blue (BL), red (RL), and fluorescent (FL) with/without NAA were independently applied to single leaf-bud cuttings. High-intensity BL together with NAA treatment efficiently induced adventitious root formation and improved root formation from poor stems. We also evaluated relative expression levels of seven kinds of rooting-related genes on cutting processes to define the critical light factor leading to rapid adventitious rooting. CmLBD1 was significantly upregulated after 5 day BL treatment and initiated rooting, whereas the expressions of other rooting-related genes were significantly increased by fluorescent light after 14 days cutting initiation.

Skomplikowana biologia chryzantemy (wysoki poziom ploidalności, heterozygo-tyczność, poligeniczna kontrola kwitnienia, samoniezgodność oraz ograniczona żywotność pyłku) ogranicza jednak skuteczność tradycyjnych metod hodowlanych (krzyżowanie i selekcję).
