The indoor air pollutants may cause several effects on human health, although there is a greater severity in risk groups, particularly among children. The aim was to evaluate the Indoor Air Quality in kindergartens of the Coimbra city, its structural and functional conditions, and respiratory health of its occupants. The study evaluated the air qua...

... compare the differences between the concentrations of IAQ parameters sampled and the implantation zone of kindergartens, we found that most are not influenced by the implantation zone of the kindergarten (p>0,05). However, the mean concentration of formaldehyde presents significant differences (p = 0.020) between the kindergartens that are in a rural area (0.0166) and an urban area (0.0284), if noting that the implantation zone of the establishment influenced the concentration of formaldehyde (Table 3). Having regard to the Rho correlation coefficient, it is found that there is a perfect linear correlation (rho > 0,8) between the concentration of IAQ parameters and frequency of symptoms/ disorders for airborne particles, carbon dioxide, air temperature and relative humidity. ...

With the continuing urbanization, much public attention has been placed on the pollutant emission of building materials. In this paper, experimental analysis of different emission rate impact factors (including temperature, relative humidity, ventilation, and seasonality) was performed to investigate the characteristic of formaldehyde and TVOC emis...

Purpose During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020–2021 in Indonesia, the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) of local houses occupied by infected occupants was adversely affected. This paper aims to appraise the IEQ of the affected Banda Aceh houses with insights into enabling them to be resilient against the negative impacts of the pandemic. Design/met...

Portable air cleaners (PACs) are widely used as the most effective strategies to improve indoor environment. However, with the indoor air components have become more complicated, the current studies focusing on the removal performance for composite pollutants have been inadequate. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the comprehensive removal per...

Background: Country-level inequality in life expectancy (ILE) and deaths of children under age five due to air pollution (DCAP) can be influenced by country-level income per capita, solid fuel, electrification, and natural resource depletion. The ILE and DCAP in the short-term are useful indicators that can help in developing ways to reduce enviro...

Background: Galaxolide (HHCB) is used for fragrance in many consumer products. The aim of the current study was to use objective assessments of HHCB to build a predictive model in order to estimate indoor-measured HHCB concentrations from questionnaire-based data on dwelling characteristics and occupants’ habits and activities. Methods: Environment...
