Securing property and people becomes more and more important as more technology is developed. Although there are several ways to recognize and identify people, biometrics is one of the most reliable ways that is being used more and more thanks to the interesting development of signal processing tools. The hardware platforms that are used to process...

The demand for security is rising everywhere as a result of the advancement of technology and the new discoveries being made by scientists. Security is the main worry, and in our busy, competitive environment, many cannot find ways to properly secure their private belongings. Currently, everyone needs to use a vehicle on a regular basis. In addition, it's crucial to safeguard the car from theft. The main objective of this project is to use fingerprint technology to secure the car against any unauthorised entry. Because a person can be uniquely identified by analysing one or more distinguishing biological traits, fingerprints prove to be one of the best traits offering good mismatch ratio and high accuracy in terms of security. It is one of those things that are particular to each person, and using a fingerprint on a car can solve the security issue.
...  Anti-theft Technique -Although all existing vehicle anti-theft systems deter the thieves from lifting the vehicle, yet all of those systems face one common limitation, i.e. they do not provide a fool-proof technique to prevent vehicle theft. The proposed system, by virtue of employing biometric data of the owner or the authorized person for authentication, is capable of preventing vehicle theft [20]. The system is better than the contemporary automated methods for preventing vehicle theft since the latter are capable of either drawing attention of the public by activating hooters/alarms, or can help the law enforcement agencies to track the vehicle after it has been stolen. ...

Contemporary advancements in technology have not only contributed towards the omnidirectional development of global economy but have also resulted in some severe social challenges. Technology has played a significant role in global socio-economic setup thereby providing a stimulus towards higher living standards [1] . The advancements in the technical domain are too frequent to cope up with an average life span of machinery, which is built using that technology. Vehicles, in particular, happen to be a machinery which has catered to the needs of almost every probable domain that has resulted in overall global development [2] . Owners intend to keep their vehicles even beyond manufacturer’s warranty, as they have invested a considerable amount of money in the purchase of the vehicle. Moreover, keeping a vehicle technically and mechanically updated as per the latest technological standards is considered to be an expensive and time-consuming affair. In this paper, we focus on existing vehicular security systems and their capability to avoid and prevent vehicle thefts.
... In commercial use, for years the main purpose of biometrics has been to authenticate users to give them some kind of privilege or access, Yampolskiy and Govindaraju (2009). In commercial vehicles, there have been identified three main biometry applications of interest: car theft (Physical Access Control), user profile (Logical Access Control) and safety (Surveillance), Yampolskiy and Govindaraju (2009), Kiruthiga and Latha (2014), Sutar (2013), Adebayo, Iyabode, Nureni, and Kikelomo (2015). However, the uses of the biometrics during the vehicle driving for other purposes besides the aforementioned applications is under development and research, Lee (2017). ...
... The biometric systems for automotive applications has been focused on the user identification function using unimodal and multimodal biometric systems with behavioural and physiological traits. Typically, the main field of application were car theft (Physical Access Control), Kiruthiga and Latha (2014), user profile (Logical Access Control), Lourenço, Alves, Carreiras, Duarte, and Fred (2015), Segalin, Perina, and Cristani (2014), Aleksic and Katsaggelos (2006), and safety (Surveillance), Gupta, Buriro, and Crispo (2018), using physiological and behavioural biometrics. The application of anti-car theft systems based on biometrics is a mature research topic. ...
... The application of anti-car theft systems based on biometrics is a mature research topic. Passwords and keys work but they can be used by the wrong person, also keys and tokens can get lost or stolen; in contrast, physiological characteristics cannot be stolen, so in some vehicles, doors used biometrics to lock or open the car, Sutar (2013) and Kiruthiga and Latha (2014). The main concern of the population is safety, people needs the warranty that their belongings wont be stolen. ...

Recent invention is in the area of electronics protection system and Biometric approach which is in form of tracking, alarm system, finger print recognition and face recognition [7][8][9][10]. The system is expensive and not every automobile user will be able to afford using such system because of its cost of design, development and maintenance. ...

There is a need for security to be provided for the automobiles due to the alarming rate of theft action across the globe. A system that reduce or even eliminate the menace on automobiles need to be developed. The design of automobile immobilizer using mobile phone is efficient in transmitting signal through the mobile phone that has both F (fast) and M (meter) buses network configurations to various destinations of users where communication network is available across the globe. The work was achieved with the aid of a specially designed microcontroller (PIC18F2550) that communicates directly with the mobile phone and some components like Schmitt Inverting Gate (74HC14N), Regulator LM7805 and LM317, NPN Transistor BC337, 12 Volt DC Relays and Liquid crystal display panel (LCD). It imbibed the operation of Short Message Service (SMS) and Communication is being established through a 15characters code (xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) which is secretive and privately used by the owner to enables and disables such automobile.
