Prototypes have become an essential aspect of the development process in software development processes. Prototypes are used to generate ideas and test them with speed and flexibility in accepting changing requirements throughout the system’s life cycle. They constitute a clear difference in dealing with agile development processes in effectively addressing fluctuating requirements through continuous cooperation between developers and users. They allow developers to collect feedback from stakeholders early, ensuring that their requirements and expectations for the final product are met. Prototypes also allow testing and validation of additional requirements and functionality. In Agile software development, Prototypes are often used from the beginning of a project to accommodate recurring and fluctuating requirements and allow for flexible adaptation throughout the development process. This approach allows development teams to quickly respond to changing requirements and modify the prototype based on end-user feedback.

Embedded systems have attracted more attention and have become more critical due to the recent computer technology advancements and applications in various areas, such as healthcare, transportation, and manufacturing. Traditional software design approaches and the finite state machine cannot provide sufficient support due to two major reasons: the increasing need for more functions in designing an embedded system and sequential controls in the implementation. This deficiency particularly discourages inexperienced engineers who use conventional methods to design embedded software. Hence, we proposed a design method, the Synthesis-Based Stateful Software Design Approach (SSSDA), which synthesizes two existing methods, the Synthesis-Based Software Design Framework (SSDF) and Process and Artifact State Transition Abstraction (PASTA), to remedy the drawback of conventional methods. To show how to conduct our proposed design approach and investigate how it supports embedded system design, we studied an industrial project developed by a sophomore student team. Our results showed that our proposed approach could significantly help students lay out modules, improve testability, and reduce defects.

Design thinking is a method that concentrates on generating ideas and solutions that begin with a process of empathy for a need that focuses on a human or user perspective. The stages of design thinking can be done repeatedly to improvise ideas and solutions so that they are responsive and adaptive to change. Agile is a software development method in which the stages can be repeated to form a cycle, this is done because the agile method is very concerned about the value of a product. The Anindya Collection is UMK of men's batik clothing that they produce themselves and sell under their own business brand name, Anindya Collection. Problems often occur in managing sales data and recapitulating sales data which is still done manually, namely handwriting in a book, making it less effective and efficient. UMK has a role in boosting the Indonesian economy, so limitations should not prevent UMK from innovating. In this study the authors implemented the Design thinking and Agile Methods in Designing the My Sales Application at Anindya Collection). In this study, the authors concluded that the design thinking method helps improvise ideas and solutions to changes prior to the development stage using agile methods. Meanwhile, agile methods help implement ideas and solutions generated from the design thinking stage.

Design Thinking as one of the approaches to collaborative identification and solving a problem has been highly recognized by practitioners and academics in providing potential value in enhancing innovative results for products, services, or strategies and is vastly recommended to be applied in Project Management. However, none of the empirical studies explores factors that influence Design Thinking adoption in the projects. This study covers this gap and explores several predictors that influence the adoption of Design Thinking in projects. With Diffusion of Innovation as the theoretical basis, data were collected from 106 project managers in Indonesia who are experienced in implementing Design Thinking in their projects. The findings suggest that innovation's perceived relative advantage, observability, and complexity significantly influence the adoption of Design Thinking. Contrary to finding in existing literature, perceived compatibility and trial-ability of Design Thinking have no influence on the adoption in the project. The education and tenure of the project manager are also found to do not moderate perceived complexity association towards the adoption of Design Thinking. This study contributes to organizations determining and developing strategies to maximize the use of Design Thinking in projects, thus increasing the chances of success in innovation projects.

Scrum, recognized today as the most popular agile development methodology, has been used in a wide range of settings and for varying purposes, in-and outside of the traditional software development context. The use of Scrum in non-traditional settings and for different needs led to a considerable corpus of academic literature that investigates, presents, and discusses modifications to the original method, aimed to make it fit such novel forms of application. Based on a large-scale review of extant literature, this study systematically analyses why and how Scrum was reportedly modified in different instances and contributes with a synthesis that can serve as a basis for a more systematic approach to future research and practice. We explicate nine common modification objectives for change (e.g., attaining high performance, non-standard contexts, distributed development) mapped against seven generic modification strategies (e.g., method guidance, new procedures, or artifacts). Building on our extensive literature analysis we highlight research gaps and identify promising areas for future research.
... There are some popular DT approaches, but certainly, there are very little practical examples of adoption of DT in the academic literature (e.g., [12]- [18]) and also there is a limited understanding of what happens when DT is adopted in an agile software development project [5], [18]. For instance, the IT profession positive and negative implications of its use in real projects are unclear. ...
