Background Blepharoplasty is one of the most popular esthetic procedures with an acceptable risk profile and a relatively quick procedure. Methods The aim was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of a new CO2 and 1540‐nm laser‐assisted blepharoplasty technique applied to the upper and lower eyelids. A total of 38 patients were enrolled. Photographs were taken before the treatment and at 6‐month follow‐up. One “blind” observer assessed the performance of this technique by ranking the results in four categories of eyelid esthetic: 1 = no or poor results (0%–25%), 2 = slight improvement (25%–50%), 3 = moderate improvement (50%–75%) and 4 = marked improvement (75%–100%). All possible complications were monitored. Results Thirty‐two patients (84 %) achieved marked improvement, four patients (11%) moderate improvement, two patients (5 %) slight improvement, while zero subjects (0%) poor or no improvement. No serious adverse effects were observed. Conclusions Our results from clinical evaluations suggest that the CO2 and 1540‐nm laser assisted blepharoplasty is proved to be a sophisticate intervention efficacious in improving the treatment of patients with various degrees of eyelid and periocular aging and also in reducing downtime.

Laser is being widely used in treating pigmented lesions nowadays. Linear and whorled nevoid hypermelanosis (LWNH) is a rare pigmentary anomaly, and there are only a handful of cases of successful treatment, all with QS 532- and 755-nm laser. The objective of this study was to examine the clinical outcome of QS 694-nm ruby laser in the treatment of LWNH. We report on a 4-year-old boy presented with asymptomatic macular hyperpigmentation over the entire cheek who underwent 3 treatment sessions with QS 694-nm ruby laser. One month after the last treatment, the patient demonstrated significant improvement to the treatment area. Aside from post-procedural purpura lasting approximately 1 week, the patient experienced no serious adverse effects. No recurrence was observed during the 3-month follow-up. Given the excellent results seen in our patients, we recommended the use of QS 694-nm ruby laser as a safe and effective treatment in patients with LWNH.

Background Periocular fine lines and wrinkles usually appear as a first visible sign of facial aging. Fractional ablative laser has been used to treat periorbital wrinkles. Objective To compare the efficacy on treatment of static periorbital wrinkles using different emission modes of CO2 fractional laser. Methods A total of 30 patients with static periorbital wrinkles were enrolled. The subjects were randomly assigned into two split-face groups: One side was treated with a deep (n = 15) or mid-mode of CO2 superficial laser (n = 15), and the other side of periocular region was treated by a fusion mode in combination of both modes (n = 30). Results The patients in three groups showed significant improvements on indexes of periocular wrinkles, skin textures, and elasticity at three-month follow-up as compared with baseline (p < 0.05). Fusion mode resulted in a significantly progressive improvement on periocular wrinkles at three-month follow-up as compared with one-month follow-up (p < 0.05), which were not observed in other modes. Fusion mode delivered better improvements of periocular wrinkles and skin textures as compared to deep and mid-modes at three-month follow-up (p < 0.05). Fusion mode also resulted in better scores of global esthetic improvement scale and patient satisfaction as compared to other modes at both follow-ups. Conclusion The fusion mode has a synergistic effect in periorbital static wrinkle treatment, which is worthy of further evaluation and investigation.
