El objetivo fue comparar las competencias investigativas adquiridas por estudiantes de tres facultades universitarias de la universidad Señor de Sipán: Ingeniería Arquitectura y Urbanismo (FIAU), Ciencias Económicas y Empresariales (FACEM) y la Facultad de Derecho. Se aborda la necesidad de explorar las diferencias para identificar áreas de mejora y optimizar el desarrollo del curso de Iniciación a la Investigación de acuerdo a las necesidades específicas de cada facultad. La investigación tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo, descriptivo, de diseño no experimental. La técnica fue la sistematización de la información tomada de los registros académicos, cuya muestra consistió en 101 estudiantes. Se concluyó que los estudiantes de la FIAU, tienen un menor dominio en competencias investigativas en comparación con sus pares de FACEM y Derecho.
