This paper deals with interoperabitity of enterprises. Interoperability is a multi-form issue and can be studied at different levels. This research work focuses on the business level and particularly on the decisional aspect so called decisional interoperability. The objective of the paper is to present how to develop decisional interoperability using design principles with mathematical formalisation, in order to improve and to facilitate the decision- making activity in a collaborative context. Finally, an illustration example using the proposed principles is presented to show the interest of the decisional interoperability solution.

Developing or improving enterprise interoperability implies that the level or degree of interoperability is evaluated and causes identified and ana- lysed. This paper tentatively presents the basic concepts relating to the meas- urement of the degree of interoperability. The degree of interoperability of an enterprise can be characterized by three types of measures: interoperability po- tentiality, compatibility and performance. The last two measures are discussed in detail and some metrics are proposed. The proposed approach is rather straightforward using the most salient characteristics known today for each measurement. It is prospective and preliminary. Some discussion and future development are given in the conclusion.

Après avoir présenté le contexte dans lequel se déroule notre étude, nous donnons les différents concepts et définitions de base nécessaire à notre recherche. Enfin nous présentons les éléments de base de la méthode en se focalisant sur les principes et la démarche.

This paper aims at presenting an overview on a methodology to de- velop interoperability of enterprise applications. After a presentation of the definition of interoperability used as starting point and the main objective of this research, approaches to develop interoperability, particularly the federated approach, in the frame of networked enterprise will be given. A draft of inter- operability general approach as well as axis of methodological frame which are currently developed will be proposed. Conclusion will be given at the end of the paper.

The domain of enterprise interoperability is not precisely defined and the concept of interoperability itself is still confusing and interpreted from many different points of view. This paper presents a framework for enterprise interoperability which is developed within the frame of INTEROP NoE. The purpose of the framework is to identify the basic dimensions regarding to enterprise interoperability and to define its domain of research. The paper will also clarify some confusing concepts around the notion of interoperability and discuss the relation between interoperability domain and other relevant ones. Complementary dimensions to this framework are also presented and the use of this framework to capture and structure enterprise interoperability knowledge is discussed. Future work and conclusion will be given at the end of the paper.
