Variable speed motors are widely used in domestic and industry loads to control the speed of electro-mechanical systems like as fans, blower, pumps, machine tools, drilling machine, lifts, conveyer belts and other applications that is require variable speed-torque load drive. Three phase induction motor can be considered as a self-starting motor wi...

... next step deals with the inversion from dc into ac, at a certain required frequency as shown in Fig. 6. The inverter consists of six power IGBTs, or MOSFETs, to convert the dc source voltage into an adjustable three phase frequency supply. We use the PWM control scheme to adjust the output frequency by changing the ON-OFF times of the power switches, and then the output of this circuit is passed through LC filter to minimize as possible ...

Many poultry farmers are performing diverse operations manually. They, therefore, experience a huge financial loss as a result of their inability to properly automate the monitoring and control of environmental factors such as temperature, humidity, air quality, and to ensure an adequate supply of light and water. These factors adversely affect the...

... Usually in variable speed drive applications, an IM is supplied by a 3-phase voltage source inverter and a rotating magnetic field that rotates the rotor of machine, is produced. Therefore, 3-phase induction motor can be considered as a self-starting motor with voltagefrequency dependent motor, since its speed is a function of the input voltage and frequency [3]. ...

The use of SPWM and SV-PWM Voltage Source Inverters are the common type of Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) for 3-phase induction motors in the industry. Even though the SPWM technique has an easier implementation, the SV-PWM has easier digital realization and better utilization of the DC link. Every 3-Phase PWM-Inverter that uses these two modulation techniques produces a total harmonic distortion (THD) on its output, which causes mechanical, electrical and thermal stresses. This paper focuses on the comparison of low order current harmonics between SPWM and SV-PWM two-level 3-phase Voltage Source Inverters, which drive an unbalanced 3-phase induction motor (the case of deterioration of the insulation as a result of inter-turn short circuits between turns of the same phase). Matlab/Simulink software is used for simulation of SPWM and SV-PWM VSI by using detailed comparative analysis of THD-phase currents for both modulating strategies at different switching frequencies for this type of unbalanced 3-phase induction motor while keeping the constant amplitude modulation index.

Designing high-speed machines is a complicated process that needs thorough investigation due to their various applications in the industry. The choice of selecting between Induction Machines (IMs) and Permanent magnet Machines (PMs) depends on the required robustness, efficiency, and cost. In this paper, an IM and Interior Permanent magnet Machine (IPM) with similar output power (10kW), rotational speed (30,000rpm), and input voltage (380V) with Fractional-Slot Concentrated Winding (FSCW) are designed, optimized, and analyzed. The comparison is based on design challenges, cost, and efficiency. A genetic Algorithm is used to optimize the proposed machines and finite element analysis (Maxwell) is employed to support the result.

This paper detail about the performance analysis of the speed control techniques of three phase induction motor drives by stator voltage control. The flow of power to the induction motor is controlled by switching action of the power switches, which thereby control the speed of the induction motor. Switching devices are now widely used in many power electronics and motor drives applications. This is due there many advantages such as compact size, low losses, ease availability, less cost and important low losses. The System consists of six bidirectional switches. In this paper the various techniques description given that is generally used to control the speed of three phase induction motors.
