Cowpea leafhopper Amrasca biguttula is one of the important pests that afflict the cowpea crop in Iraq and cause economic losses. Therefore, chemical control was studied in the laboratory and its effectiveness in control was demonstrated, as a pesticide was used im-idacloprid ;Confider of the Neonicotinoid schemical group Confider concentration was used for spray treatment 25ml/L,50,75,100ml/l. The concentration used for soil treatment is 100g/ml,200,300 ,400g/ml. The results were the treatment of the lowest hatching rate was obtained in leafhopper eggs for spray treatment when using a concentration of 100ml (reached 79.44%), observed that the average of mortality rate resulting from the use of a the pesticide Confider reached to (33.47%) , It is noted that the highest mortality rate was achieved after the passage of time 72 hours of treatment and reached (39.73%).

BACKGROUND Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) is a serious agricultural pest worldwide. Neonicotinoids are the most important new class of synthetic insecticides used in the management of B. tabaci. However, B. tabaci populations have developed resistance to various active ingredients in neonicotinoids following long‐term and widespread application. RESULTS Dinotefuran exhibited high toxicity against most B. tabaci field populations. One population (Din‐R) with a high level of resistance to dinotefuran (255.6‐fold) was first identified in the field. The Din‐R population exhibited medium to high levels of resistance to all the tested neonicotinoid insecticides and a high level of resistance to spinetoram. Genetic inheritance analysis revealed that resistance to dinotefuran was incompletely recessive and polygenic. The synergist piperonyl butoxide significantly increased the toxicity of dinotefuran to Din‐R. P450 activity in the Din‐R population was 2.19‐fold higher than in the susceptible population. RNA‐sequencing analysis showed that 12 P450 genes were significantly upregulated in the Din‐R population, of which CYP6DW5, CYP6JM1 and CYP306A1 were found to exhibit more than 3.00‐fold higher expression in Din‐R when using a reverse transcription quantitative real‐time polymerase chain reaction. Expression of eight P450 genes was obviously induced by dinotefuran, and CYP6DW5 showed the highest expression level. After knockdown of CYP6DW5 in Din‐R, the toxicity of dinotefuran increased significantly. CONCLUSION P450 had a crucial role in dinotefuran resistance in B. tabaci, and CYP6DW5 was involved in the resistance. These results provide important information for the management of resistance in B. tabaci and improve our understanding of the resistance mechanism of dinotefuran. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

The current study was a pioneer attempt to explore the toxicological impacts of imidacloprid (IMI) pesticide and to investigate the efficiency of Hyphaene thebaica fruit (HTF) as a dietary supplement in attenuating the IMI effect in African catfish (Clarias gariepinus). Fish were sampled after 2 months of exposure to IMI (1/5 LC50: nominal 2.03 μg/L) and HTF (15 g/kg diet) supplementation, in combination or individually. Growth, hematological, stress, and antioxidant indicators, besides the mRNA expression of various genes in gills tissues and immunohistochemical and economic parameters, were assessed. The outcomes demonstrated that IMI exposure induced behavioral changes, and a significant decrease (p < 0.05) in the majority of the measured variables including growth, hematology, economic efficiency, neurotransmitter (acetylcholine esterase), glucose level, and antioxidant capacity (catalase, and superoxide dismutase (SOD)). Additionally, IMI dysregulated the expression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), Toll-like receptor 5 (TLR-5), Toll-like receptor 1 (TLR-1), lysozyme C (LYSC), lysozyme G (LYSG), transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), myeloperoxidase (MYE), CXC chemokine (CXC), heat shock proteins 90 (HSP90), and SOD1 in the gills. On the other hand, marked increases in the serum malondialdehyde and stress indicator (cortisol) with the highest mortality losses were detected in IMI-exposed fish. Histopathological disorders are detected in the brain post-exposure to IMI including marked neuronal vacuolation, neuronophagia, and complete neuronal loss with weak BCL-2 and marked caspase-3 immunoreactivity. The dietary intervention with HTF revealed a noticeable modulation in the aforementioned parameters and regeneration in the histological architecture. Taken together, the IMI induces severe stress, and behavioral and histological alterations, and impairs the C. gariepinus growth, economic efficiency, and hematological, and antioxidant efficacy through the negative transcriptional impact on the associated genes. Nevertheless, the dietary HTF (15 g/kg diet) could be utilized as a potential natural growth promoter, antioxidant modulator, and against IMI hazards for sustaining aquaculture.

This study aimed to examine the side effects of selected neonicotinoids (Acetamiprid, Aceta, and Imidacloprid, Imid) on Oreochromis niloticus juveniles. The acute toxicity, Probit method, revealed an LC 50 of 195.81 and 150.76 ppm for Aceta/96 h and Imid/72 h respectively. The fish were divided into three groups that were exposed, for 21 days (n = 5/replicate), to 1/10 of the LC 50 of either neonicotinoids, however, the third was an unexposed control group. Results of erythrocytic micronucleus (MN), and nuclear abnormalities (NA) showed that Aceta and Imid exposure caused a significant ( p < 0.05) increase in MN by ~ 2.2 and ~ 10 folds, respectively relative to control. NAs occurred at the order of kidney-shaped > budding > binucleated in Aceta, however, budding > binucleated > kidney-shaped was noticed in the Imid group. Histopathological changes in gills, liver, and muscles were observed significantly in both exposed groups with more severity in the Imid group. Collectively, Aceta and Imid have potential genotoxicity and histopathological alterations in O. niloticus .

A study was carried out in Banganga Municipality of Kapilvastu district to know the farmer's knowledge, practices, and management method used in insect pests of vegetables. The survey involved 160 randomly selected farmers who were interviewed using semi-structured questionnaires and also evaluated based on direct field observation. The data were analyzed using SPSS and Microsoft-Excel. Tomato, potato, chili, cauliflower, cabbage, garlic, and onion were major vegetables grown by the farmers during the winter season and cucumber, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, sponge gourd, tomato, chili, brinjal during the summer season. Aphids, cabbage butterfly, pumpkin beetle, tomato leaf miner, cutworm, and tomato fruit borer were the major pests in vegetable field. Knowledge of vegetable farmers regarding insect pest identification was also observed i.e., 86% of respondents identified insect pest by the help of Junior Technical Assistance and agro-vets, and 10% of respondents identified insects by their own knowledge. About 60% of respondents were found using chemical pesticides such as; chlorpyrifos, cypermethrin, imidacloprid, alphamethrin etc. to control pests, 4% of respondents were using botanical plant extract i.e., jholmal, neem extract, cow urine and 24% were using cultural methods such as crop rotation, mulching, tillage operation. Only a few farmers' groups were found to know about IPM, biological pest management practices, and conservation of natural enemies.

Chemigation helps to reduce the labour cost, time and wind drift problems and also give same efficiency in terms of pest management as compared to foliar spray. Out of ten insecticidal treatments at different intervals, data indicated that among foliar spray treatment Imidacloprid 17.8 SL + Cynatraniliprole 10.26 OD was the best in reducing almost all the five major insect pests, recording 0.89 aphid index, 0.42 whitefly/leaf except jassids. Among chemigation treatment Imidacloprid 17.8 SL + Cynatraniliprole 10.26 OD was the best treatment recording 0.54 pod borer and 0.89 spotted pod borer larva per plant.
