Three new species of Collettea Lang, 1973: C. alicjae, C. lilliputa and C. longipleona are described from the Antarctic, based on the collections made on board the R/V Eltanin and R/V Polarstern from the abyssal depth of range 2281-4304 m. Apart from the three species described in this paper three other Collettea species were found in the region of...

... Collettea agnesi shares those characters with Antarctic C. lilliputa and to some extent also with C. minima, and it is possible that those species can be included in the new colletteid genus as previously suggested by Błażewicz-Paszkowycz and Larsen (2005) and Drumm and Bird (2016). At the moment, this species is classified to the genus Collettea based on: its cylindrical body, antennule of four articles, antenna of six articles, mandibular molar not pointed, pereopods with coxae, pleopods absent in females, uropod endopod of two segments, and exopod with one segment. ...

Four new species of deep-sea Tanaidacea taken from the Gulf of Guinea as part of the Ghanaian marine environmental monitoring programme in 2012 are described. One of the species, which was classified to the family Anarthruridae, differed substantially from the other members of the family, and was accommodated to the newly erected genus – Olokun n. gen. Each of the three other species belongs to a different family: Parakanthophoreus guineus n. sp. – Akanthophoreidae, Collettea agnesi n. sp. – Colletteidae, and Araphura studens n. sp. – Tanaellidae. A key for genera of Anarthruridae is given.

... Most of the diagnostic characters are sta-ble and the useful characters are length of uropod, length to width ratios of pereionites, length of the dactylus of the cheliped relative to fixed finger, number of denticles of the fixed finger of the cheliped, and presence and position of fusion line on antenna article 4 . Some species, however, sometimes represent unusual characters such as shape of mandible molar processes, bifurcate distal spiniform seta on the maxillule, and elongate uropods, which are in need of revision of generic classification (Larsen, 2000;Błażewicz-Paszkowycz and Larsen, 2005). In particular, elongate uropods longer than half pleotelson length are observed in C. minima, C. longipedia, and C. lilliputa, while other species are less than 1/4 length of pleotelson. ...

Three new species of ColletteaLang, 1973 are described from the Korea Deep Ocean Study (KODOS) area of the eastern central Pacific based on collections made at a depth of approximately 5000 m by R/V Onnuri. This study is a component of environmental impact research for manganese nodule mining in the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone (CCFZ). Only one species of the genus Colletteahas previously been described from the CCFZ. This situation may result from similar morphologies among related species, a lack of samples, and the frequent poor quality of specimens which results from sampling difficulties. This paper describes three new Colletteaspecies from the KODOS area. These species vary in the characteristics of the cheliped propodus: in C. asperaand C. prominentia, this structure shows bark-like ornamentation on its outer surface. Additionally, the cephalothorax bears fine setules along the mid-lateral margins (C. eminulaand C. aspera), and the cheliped fixed finger shows protrusions along the proximal incisive margin (C. eminula). These characteristics have not yet been found in other species of the genus. In this study, full descriptions of new species of Colletteaand the key characters of genus are provided, and the comparison of these characteristics with those of closely related species is given. © 2015 by The Crustacean Society. Tanaidaceans belong to the most severely underestimated groups of benthic macrofauna of the Southern Ocean. Here, we analyze 11 samples collected with a small-meshed epibenthic sled in the summer season of 2008, in the Ross Sea, at the shelf break, slope and abyss (365–3490 m). The material was obtained during a RV Tangaroa voyage as part of the New Zealand International Polar Year, Census of Antarctic Marine Life Project. Seventy-two species of Tanaidacea were recorded, 85 % of which were new to science. The most speciose genera are Typhlotanais, Pseudotanais and Paraleptognathia. Rare species (singletons and doubletons) constituted 60 % of the material. Each of the three studied depth zones was characterized by a unique tanaidacean fauna. Only few species (<6 %) occurred consistently in more than one depth zone. The highest number of species (31 species) was recorded in the abyssal sites, and the lowest number of species (20 species) at the shelf sites.

Three new species of Tanaidacea are described from the manganese nodule province between the Clarion and the Clipperton Fracture Zone of the equatorial North Pacific Ocean. The specimens were collected during the Nodinaut expedition on board the r/v lAtalante in the summer of 2004. The new species belongs to the genera Stenotanais (S. arenasi) and Typhlotanais (T. froufesae, T. pereosetulosa). Stenotanais arenasi is believed to be the first male Stenotanais reported. A key to the genus Stenotanais is presented. The anterior pleopods of T. pereosetulosa were found to be dissimilar from the posterior.
