The type of insertion code-mixing was the most dominant type used by students in communicating. This study aimed to analysing the types of code-mixing and the teachers’ reasons of code-switching used by the English teachers in teaching English. This study is a descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this study are two English teachers who taught English subject. The teachers who teach in 10th and 11th grades of language major. The data were collected using two methods, such as observation and interview. The instruments used are video recorder, tape recorder, observations sheets, and interview guide. Researcher analyze the data, data collected will be transcribed into written form to facilitate classification. The transcribed data in script form will be analysing using Hoffman’s theory. The results showed that there are three types of code-mixing used by the English teachers. There are intra sentential code-mixing (62.1%), intra lexical code-mixing (18.7%), and involving a change in pronounciation (19.2%). Moreover there are total 198 utterances, which is of 49 utterances used because the students’ English ability are low, 33 utterances used to diagnosing students, 29 utterances used to get closer to the students, 16 utterances used to making a joke, and 71 utterances used because the habit factor.

The code mixing phenomenon is a common practice in multilingual societies where individuals use more than one language or code in their daily conversations. The use of code mixing is also widely used by artists or public figures on various platforms. This can affect the use of code mixing. This study is aimed to analyze the types, motives, and reasons of the use of code mixing in Boy William’s Vlog. The data were collected by using documentation method and note taking technique. The data were analyzed by using qualitative method. In this case, the analyzed data types were classified by the theory of code mixing types, then the motives and reasons of the code mixing were identified by using the theory from Hockett (1958) to identify motives and Hoffman (1991) to identify the reason of code mixing. The data were presented informally. The result showed that there were found all the types of code mixing, all motives and six reasons, almost every reason for code mixing appears in the Boy William’s vlog, except being emphatic about something. There are three types of code mixing found in the expression of Boy William. Intra-sentential code mixing is the most frequent type of code mixing. Prestige filling motive is the most frequent type of motive that occurred in the code mixing. Talking about particular topic is the most frequent reason of the code mixing.

Foreign company employees (FCEs, meaning local Chinese employees who work for foreign companies) have become a considerable social group in China. One of their salient characteristics is the language they use in their speech community: mixed language of Chinese and English, which is a classic case of code-mixing. Although some scholars have already noticed this phenomenon, few focused research has been found yet. Thus, this present research aims to look into this code-mixing case from an apparent-time, sociolinguistic perspective, focusing on the pragmatic motivations of this code-mixing. Accuracy, efficiency, emphasis, emotion softening and strengthening are the main motivations found in this case study. The present research also calls for more attentions on this code-mixing case in this special social community in the future.

The research discussed K-pop idols as ambassadors for brands, contributing to the global popularity of K-pop as a cultural phenomenon. Given their strong influence and popularity, it was fascinating to discern how K-Pop idols' diaspora communicates with each other. By using the descriptive-qualitative approach with the interpretive-explorative pattern, the research was intended to examine the practice of code-switching and code-mixing by K-pop idols' diaspora during their interaction, to enumerate the code-switching and code-mixing instances, as well as to study the reasons/motivations behind the use of using code-switching and code-mixing. The result of the data analysis confirmed that, like other bilinguals, K-Pop idol's diaspora utilize code switching and code mixing during their interaction for various underlying reasons. It is found that there are 19 inter-sentential switchings, 18 intra-sentential switching, four tag switching, 11 insertion code-mixing, four alternation code-mixing, and six congruent lexicalizations with different reasons or motivations. The research concluded that it is almost inevitable for bilinguals and multilinguals to practice code- switching and code-mixing to navigate language selection during their interaction.

The study investigated code switching and code mixing on social media writing skills of the University undergraduates in Ekiti State, Nigeria. The study investigated the level of code switching and code mixing among male and female undergraduates on social media writing and it also examines the influence of code switching and code mixing on social media writing skills among universities undergraduates in Ekiti State. The descriptive survey research design was adopted in the study. Multistage sampling procedure was used to select the sample. The first stage purposive sampling techniques were used to sample all the four university in Ekiti state. The second stage, proportional sampling technique was used to sample from of the four universities. The third stage simple random sampling techniques was used to sample undergraduates from each faculty in four universities. Questionnaire was used to collect data on the study. Section A focused on the demographic variables of the respondents such as name of university, faculty and level of study and undergraduate background. Section B was made up items to elicit information on code mixing and code switching undergraduates on social media writing skills. The reliability of the instrument was determined through test, re-test method and in doing this, the instrument administered on 20 respondents outside the sample twice within the interval of two weeks. The two responses were correlated and analysed using test re-test, which yielded a reliability coefficient of 0.73. The data collected was analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The descriptive statistics such as the frequency counts percentages and bar chart were used to answer research questions. Hypotheses 1 and 2 were tested using Pearson’s Product moment correlation; hypotheses 3, 4 were tested using t-test. All the hypotheses were tested at 0.05 level of significance. Therefore, the University undergraduates should stick to the option of language they choose to use on social media and that code switching and code mixing should be used alongside with quotation marks to indicate deliberate use of other codes on social media to show compliance with syntactic rules guiding writing.

Advertisements in radio are heard by many people in promote services or products. The advertisements in the radio tend to mix the language from Indonesian to English. This study aimed to analyze the types and the functions of code mixing used in commercial and non-commercial advertisements of Guntur Radio FM Station Bali. This study was embedded research design. The research instruments used were smartphone, observation sheet, field note, transcription sheet, and classification sheet. The result of this study is shown that there were 8 types and 6 functions of code mixings in commercial advertisements. The types were insertion of word, insertion of phrase, involving changes of pronunciation, letter of the alphabet, insertion of clause, proper words, incomplete sentence, and short forms type. While, the functions were quotation, repetition, facility of expression, interjection, personalization and objectification, and qualifying message. In addition, there were 3 types and 3 functions of code mixings in non-commercial advertisements, and the types were insertion of word, insertion of clause, and incomplete sentence, while the functions were facility of expression, quotation, and phatic function.

This study aims to better understand the phenomenon of code mixing as a relationship between language and culture, in order to understand its structure. The method used in this research is content analysis with a qualitative approach. The results of the data analysis show that the most common form of code mixing is word insertion. This phenomenon occurs because words are the smallest units in language that function as subjects, predicates, objects or information. Furthermore, the form of code mixing that is rarely found in the conversation is the insertion of idioms. This is caused by the lack of need to use parables or expressions known as proverbs in the conversations of traders and buyers. For example, in the sentence "inyo president at tarek-tarek's house, my ears want me" there is an idiom insertion in the form of code mixing, namely "inyo president". This study provides insight into the forms of code mixing that occur in the conversations of traders and buyers at the Kaget Kubang Jaya market, Kampar Regency. The results of this study can be used as a basis for further understanding the phenomenon of code mixing in a broader context

The research aims to know the types of code mixing, the type of code switching and the factors of code-switching and code-mixing in the process of learning English in 6th semester students of the English Language Education department of UIN Mataram. This research was used descriptive qualitative approach. The subject of this study was one of the classes in the British American Australian course. The research applies observation, interviews and documents in collecting data. The study reveals that (1) there are 2 types of code mixing namely Insertion and alternation;(2) there are 2 types of code switching namely Intra-Sentential and Intra-Sentential; (3) there are 4 factors that cause students did code switching and code mixing in class namely situation, talking about a particular topic, difficulties to finding equivalent words in language in used, and intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor.

This research aimed to analyze the details of types, factors, and gestures that emerge through the utilization of code-mixing by Cinta Laura Kiehl in the Narasi Newsroom which talks about animal harassment in Indonesia. This is quite an attractive study because the subject of the research has mastered multi-language skills with an intercultural background. In addition, code-mixing is becoming a present-day lifestyle of language utilization in formal and informal cases. This is descriptive qualitative research that analyzed by code-mixing approach in sociolinguistics theory through the Cinta Laura’s answers utterance. The primary data were gathered by conducting video observation on YouTube and doing note-taking of the manuscript which consists of code-mixing. Moreover, the secondary data was collected from several books and journals that have been cited. This research found two code-mixing types commonly utilized; insertion type and congruent-lexicalization. Then, family, educational background, environments, and multi-language skills are measured as the main sociolinguistics factors that affect code-mixing. Moreover, during the show, there is co-gesture analyzed consciously emphasis while the subject said the different language to strengthen addressee comprehension.

This study aims to describe the events of code-switching and code-mixing that occur in speech interactions between teachers and students in the Bahsrah class at the Al-Azhar Pare Kediri course institution. This research includes the type of qualitative descriptive research. The subject of this research is speech events that occur in the interaction of teachers and students in the Bahsrah class at Al-Azhar Pare Kediri course institution. The object of this research is speech that contains code-switching and code-mixing in teacher and student interactions in the Bahsrah class at Al-Azhar Pare Kediri course institute. This data was obtained using participant observation techniques and field notes. Data analysis was carried out by reducing data, then recording sentences that fall into the category of code switching and code mixing. Keywords: Switching, Code Mixing, Learning Speech Events
