Resistance spot welding (RSW) is a widespread manufacturing process in the automotive industry. There are different approaches for assessing the quality level of RSW joints. Multi-input-single-output methods, which take as inputs either the intrinsic parameters of the welding process or ultrasonic nondestructive testing variables, are commonly used...

This article is devoted to the study of means and methods for non-destructive testing mechanical properties of polyethylene gas pipelines that have been in operation for 25–55 years. In order to assess mechanical properties, stress at yield was chosen as a key parameter. Stress at yield is determined from the results of tensile tests and is associa...

A new nondestructive inspection method, the magnetic hammer test (MHT), which uses a compact and highly sensitive tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) sensor, is proposed. This method complements the magnetic flux leakage method and eliminates the issues of the hammer test. It can therefore detect weak magnetic fields generated by the natural vibration o...

Ultrasonic in-line inspection is one of the most widely adopted nondestructive testing methods for defect detection in pipelines. In practical industrial scenes, pipeline specification varies, sensor failure occurs frequently, and the number of pipeline defect samples is scarce. How to detect defects without false detection caused by invalid data and with limited labeled samples is a challenging problem in this area. An ultrasonic in-line inspection data processing method considering invalid data caused by sensor failure is proposed in this paper to enhance the accuracy of the defect and its profile detection. Firstly, the multi-channel data is aggregated according to sampling time. The data dimension is reduced, and the accuracy of the invalid waveform detection adopting isolation forest arithmetic is improved. The methods are adopted for the invalid waveforms replacement with two-dimensional cubic spline interpolation using adjacent sensors. Secondly, a natural breakpoint method is adopted to locate the echo peaks. Residual wall thickness is evaluated by calculating the time difference between the echo peaks. A fast pseudo-colorization method based on sliding windows and a morphological image processing method are proposed to detect defects and their profiles efficiently utilizing the residual wall thickness. Finally, practical in-line inspection data is utilized to evaluate the performance. The experiment results illustrate that the detection accuracy is enhanced on different sizes of pipelines without requiring labeled samples.

Considering that the above three parameters are obtained through the world sound synthesis system and lf0 is consistent with the numerical changes of bap parameters, only the 60-dimensional spectrum envelope MGC parameters are performed in modeling training. e BP neural network sound conversion model based on MGC parameters is constructed in this paper, as shown in Figure 2. e neuron number of input and output is 60, the hidden layers are 2, and the neurons of hidden layers is 59 [15][16][17][18]. Parameters select the target sound signal value and then place the generated parameters into the WORLD system to synthesize a new sound signal. ...

For the improvement of the traditional evaluation effect of the automobile sound quality, an evaluation model of automobile sound quality is constructed based on BP neural network. The first is to introduce the basic principle of the BP neural network in detail. The second is to use the MGC parameters to establish the vehicle interior sound conversion model. The converted sound characteristic parameters are taken into the WORLD model to synthesize the new sound signals. Furthermore, the wavelet decomposition method is used to remove noise from the synthesized sound signals. Finally, a sound evaluation model based on BP neural network is established. The sound quality of automobiles can be better evaluated by carrying out the ABX test and MOS test in the field of sound conversion. For the newly synthesized sound signal and the target sound signal, it can be seen that the newly synthesized sound signal is more inclined to the target sound signal, and the sound quality is better. In addition, the sound quality is tested through loudness, roughness, sharpness, and level A in the field of sound quality evaluation. The final results show that the quality of newly synthesized sound is better, and the average errors of sound signals meet the sound standard. Therefore, the constructed sound conversion model and the sound evaluation model are feasible and effective.

Butt welding is extensively applied in long-distance oil and gas pipelines, and it is of great significance to conduct non-destructive ultrasonic testing of girth welds in order to avoid leakage and safety accidents during pipeline production and operation. In view of the limitations of large transducer size, single fixed beam angle, low detection resolution and high cost of conventional ultrasonic inspection technologies, a 16-channel piezoelectric micro ultrasonic transducer (PMUT) array probe was developed through theoretical analysis and structural optimization design. After the probe impedance characterization, the experimental results show that the theoretical model can effectively guide the design of the ultrasonic transducer array, offering the maximum operating frequency deviation of less than 5%. The ultrasonic echo performance tests indicate that the average -6 dB bandwidth of the PMUT array probe can be up to 77.9%. In addition, the fabricated PMUT array probe has been used to successfully detect five common internal defects in pipeline girth welds. Due to the multiple micro array elements, flexible handling of each element, large bandwidth and high resolution of defect detection, the designed PMUT array probe can provide a good application potential in structural health monitoring and medical ultrasound imaging fields.
